Acrylic vs. Porcelain vs. stainless steel kitchen sinks

Lou Pearson

Guys! We bought a $1,000,000 home with remodeled kitchen with a white Lyon acrylic farmhouse-style apron front sink. Underneath, the tag has a manufacture date of 2/14/14. It is not even 2 years old, and we have only been here 18 months. After 12 months, the entire surface on the bottom of the sink is crazed and the finish is worn off. I am including a photo for you to see. I took care of this baby so gently, so it is not user error! In our old kitchen, we had a porcelain sink that was 50 years old that looked and had worn better than this one. You may save money up front, but don't buy acrylic sinks (or tubs, but for other reasons)! You will need to replace the sink in a few short years and that causes major expense if it is set into granite countertops.
