Wood in floor: tile or real wood?

Hi - this is such a lovely kitchen! I've been looking for flooring examples on Houzz which show this pattern, with wood intersecting travertine tile. Is the wooden part real wood, or did you use tiles that look like wood? And, did you use special grout? We're building a house with some basement, but the kitchen is on a slab so we can have radiant heat, so any feedback would be much appreciated. Many thanks!

This is wood, however, you can now get porcelain that looks just as good and makes in floor heating work a lot better.

    That does make sense, thanks.
