I have loved my GE -- both in my old house (I replaced the double wall oven 4 years before I moved and just loved it), and in my new place, where the upper oven is convection or standard and the lower is standard. The oven initially in our former house was also a GE and was only replaced, after 20 years, because it was a dated style and we were redoing our kitchen. We cook every day, so I can verify that these ovens are workhorses.

Bosch is my go-to brand for dishwashers, but I would be hard pressed to find a brand other than GE that I would turn to for a wall oven.

I have kitchenaid and love them. One is Convection and conventional, and the other is conventional. I have been well pleased with the performance. Bosch, and Viking is a high priced name and stainless steel interior. If you just want performance, you would not be let down my Kitchenaid.

i have a 6 year old KA and a 1 year old whirlpool. i'm not certain if it is because its older and the fans and circuitry were different, but the older KA is muchmuchMUCH quieter. both preheat in exactly the same amount of time, even tho the KA is 30" and the whirlpool is 27".

as far as consumer reports goes, check with your local library to see if they subscribe to CR online edition, it has many more reviews and you'll be able to access it from home.

Planning a new home right now and I am going with GE appliances. I like the way they look and the price point. I have looked at probably every appliance made and made comparisons. For my use----and that is cooking and baking just about everyday---GE is the best. I am looking at a gas range, single wall electric oven, refridgerator and dishwasher. Probably all about $6 ---6.500. I can afford to spend more than that----but why?
