Thanks so much for your question! For this style of countertop, we do not recommend direct cutting or chopping as it can harm the finish. For dishes hot off the stove or from the oven, we recommend using trivets to protect the wood as well. The countertops itself is very low-maintenance, thanks to our signature Marine Oil Finish that protects the wood, and makes the surface water and stain proof.
