Second guessing every decision so far... right now metal finishes

Kitchen is white/gray (surprise, surprise!). White shaker cabinets (with a cove bead) for perimeter and grey painted cabinets for island. Cambria Torquay counters. Floors are a grey/brown hickory. Backsplash will most likely be a silver crackle subway tile. Stacked cabinets for 10 ft ceiling. Quite a bit of glass cabinets. Transitional style.

Cabinets are starting to go in this Friday - hooray! We've been without a kitchen for 5+ weeks now so I'm getting antsy. However this has given me ample time to change my mind on multiple things. Right now it is finishes.

I already have the Moen Woodmere faucets for the prep sink and cleanup sink and soap dispensers in "Classic Stainless". I have not picked out pulls. There are no other metals in the kitchen yet. However from the passthrough to the dining room, you should be able to see the chandelier with polished nickel finish.

I'm drooling over the Rejuvenation Hood pendants to go over our 122" island. I keep seeing the pictures in polished chrome and it just looks so pretty.

I'm really at a loss for which finish to choose - polished chrome or polished nickel. For some reason chrome comes off to me as cheap (that sounds horrible saying that).

Here are colors to get an idea together (note the glazed one is for the dining room - we are having drawers built on that side for the passthrough - the style is for entire kitchen though).

I LOVE those pendants & my vote is polished nickel. It will be warmer than chrome

Thanks. Do you think they will coordinate okay with the "classic stainless" faucets?

I'd go for the Polished Nickel pendant as well. It will look great with the "classic stainless" faucets, the contrast will be nice.

Yummy. Can I throw a ringer choice in there? What about pewter?

Polished nickel. We have polished chrome bath fixtures and I found that lighting had way more options in nickel. So in the future I would I only go with nickel given that they look so similar.

I think the polished nickel will work well with your cabinet/countertop choices.

Your space is looking great. Last minute guessing is common I think. As for mixing metals - I don't think people really notice shades of chrome/stainless/nickel. As long as you like the style and they are well made, I would go with your first gut choice.

FWIW - in our kitchen we have antique bronze lights and SS sinks, hardware, appliances and hood. One sink has 2 SS faucets and another has polished chrome. I just didn't want to spring the additional $$. It looks FINE.

Definitely the nickel. It is warmer.

My kitchen addition -- all white. Used polished nickel and am very happy. I went with Hudson Valley semi-flush 'Waterloo' and the 'Haverhill' pendants.

We have a similar color pallet in our kitchen. Our fan is the Rejuvenation Heron with polished nickel and aged bronze finish and our faucet is Brizo stainless. I think they go really well together. Our pulls are from Schoolhouse Electric with a matte bronze finish which has more gold in it vs. the black on the fan. The exterior door has Emtek hardware with medium bronze patina finish. Then we have a salvaged interior door with original hardware with yet another finish on it. If you set everything down together it would probably look awful. However once everything is spread out they work well together and look great. We felt much safer picking things that we're obviously different that worked towards a common theme than trying to get everything to match. There was too much risk in things being slightly different and looking like we tried to hard but failed.

If I had to pick a polished finish I would choose polished nickel. Its warmer and has a deeper look to it. You're kitchen is going to look great, everything you picked so far works well together!

I would go with the polished nickle. Your choices are beautiful! Do you mind me asking who makes your floor? Is it hardwood? It is gorgeous and exactly what I've been looking for.

The Moen classic SS is a warmer finish like the nickel and I think they will coordinate well together. I'm another one with a variety of finishes (brass, SS, chrome, and even some painted black metal pot racks) and I think the idea is to coordinate rather than match. Nothing worse than two finishes that try to match and don't. I tried to do that with two different finishes of brass pulls I couldn't find a company that made both the cup pulls and bar pulls so I tried to find matching finishes - almost the same, but not quite. I've got to get them changed before I forget.

I think most people assume that the Edison filament bulbs provide enough light since you see them everywhere. But they aren't meant for task lighting over an island. There's a discussion in Home Decor now about those bulbs.

I copied this from Brushworks' post:

A decent amount of work light is about 800 lumens minium. The Edison incandescent averages less than 350 lumens. The Edison LED isn't much better at 450 lumens. Great for lanterns or exposed bulb application. The Edison Vintage LED temperature is 2200 which is slightly above candle light.

Rejuvenation recommends using the satin etch or opal shades with regular bulbs.

Thanks for all of your help. I think polished nickel it is!

Mayflowers, I have thought long and hard about the bulbs in those pendants. We will already have 9 3000k LED lights (old bulbs still in picture below) plus UCL so not sure how much I need task lighting on island. I just love the look and think I may sacrifice looks over function.

Season - our floors are Somerset Hickory Ember. I'll add a picture of them installed as of today - quite a mess in our house! I found a local retailer that carried somerset to get the sample but they couldn't beat True Hardwoods (in GA) price so I ordered from them.

Looking awesome! Those floors are gorgeous. I am imagining the double sided glass cabinets between the kitchen and dining room already. I'm so excited for you. Please keep us posted as it progresses.

Thank you! Your home is gorgeous. Please share your reveal when complete. :)

Another option to the Rejuvenation Hood Pendant is the Remains Lighting Sorenson Pendant. I've seen this pendant & it is gorgeous. The netting is subtle. It has 3 - 60 watt round candelabra bulbs which would provide more than enough lumens. Of course, it is much more expensive than the Rejuvenation pendant.

Oh Romy... I saw those a few weeks ago and loved them until I saw the 14" is $1940! It's hard enough spending $500 - can't do $2k!

I really like the Hood - it's one of those things I fell in love with when I saw it - I think I'll just have to make do with the lighting...

I was never able to find a price for the Sorenson so I assumed they were expensive. Whoa - that is expensive!
