fraxal dual laser treatment

If anyone is interested in type this type of treatment, Angie of hotandlfashy has a short video on it. Looks like it works really well, quite a difference in her skin.

I saw this earlier today and am looking forward to her follow-up post. I was impressed that she said it wasn't all that painful because I've had fraxel in the past that was tortuous (another that wasn't but the down time was about two weeks which I'm not willing to do again. Don't even know if that laser is still done though it was much more effective than the fraxel, which I am assuming has improved since I had it done).

    dgs, sounds painful!

The second one wasn't fun and I swore I'd never do it again. BUT...I didn't use a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon (family practice guy who did a lot of cosmetic stuff), and I think that was a mistake. Also, I believe the procedures/machines are improving all the time. I'm interested in learning more about the dual fraxel Angie had done.

These types of things are always improving. Angie seems to have a good derm or cosmetic surgeon, whoever she uses. Her fillers and botox always seem to be done right, no issues, and looked very natural when she had it done. If I lived near her, I would be tempted to make an appointment. That is my issue here, I dont know of anyone who gets fillers or laser, so not sure who I could trust to do a good job.

Someone posted one of her before-and-after links on that other thread and I have to say I did not see any difference or improvement. FWIW, her skin looks like tenderized meat to me :-(

I must of missed that thread, what was the title of it?

Did it, loved it!! Too bad it only lasted 2 -21/2 years. Can't remember cost as did eyes at same time( pieice of cake, love it!). It was well over 1k. I may do again in a couple of years. However!!! The main thing I hoped to accomplish wasn't : it did not touch one single brown spot. My wrinkles weren't bad ( except neck, ugh!), so that was a big disappointment.

Rose, it was either the one about "fillers" or "looking good for your age" (or maybe keeping yourself current?). Both were on this forum. I had never heard of hot and flashy before and she was mentioned frequently, so I clicked on one of the links to her before and after photos for a recent procedure. I honestly did not see much of a difference.

I agree I didn't see a difference that would be worth that procedure. Part of it was the lighting was so different. I think it would almost have to be in person to discern whether or not those procedures work well. I never heard of her before and wasted a good hour watching her review of make up and her suggestions about diet. I think she does a pretty good job. Unfortunately now I'm going to be ordering a bunch of new make up. Except for foundation ..,I've been a big fan of Chanel's Lumiere for a long time

I know lighting makes a big difference. She has great lighting when she does her videos but looks older to me once she is not in that kind of lighting. I do however see a big difference in her skin tone from before her laser and after. I dont think she said how much it costs, unless I missed that part. She does do a good job reviewing products but of course everyone has different skin so what works for her might now work for us.

Well, we will see if they do. I just bought almost everything she chose as her high end cosmetic picks for 2015. We shall see if I really need tinted moisturizer, foundation primer, under Eye concealer, and eyeshadow primer. Right now I don't use any of that… Just moisturizer and foundation. I guess I'll Also see if I mascara primer is actually a good idea for me or not.

she and I actually a very similar coloring so I just ordered everything she she was using... That was a quick couple hundred, sheesh

i've been using Chanel since college, so I guess it's time for a change

I bought some of the skin care products she suggested. As for the make-up, I don't and won't wear all that! I don't like that much stuff on my face, plus I'm not willing to take the time to put it all on LOL! I have used cetaphil cleanser forever (recommended by my derm), but have been using the cere va she recommends. I will say it is more hydrating, so far I like it.

Mtn, she highly recommended IT CC cream which I did try and love.

    What's that Rose?

"IT" brand, CC = "color and correct"

I do find it interesting how products that work so well for one person may not work well for another. I've used Bare Minerals foundation for years but recently read glowing reviews about some liquid foundations. I tried numerous samples from Sephora (for anyone who doesn't know, you can get samples of almost any product from Sephora, a wonderful service.) all of which I hated. Tried one of Chanel's foundations and hated it. An Ulta floor supervisor (didn't represent any brand) recommended IT cc mineral type foundation and I hated it. I'm back to BMinerals and am so happy!

I always thought primers (face and eye lid) were a joke but now I can't imagine applying my make-up without them. The mascara primer? Umm, not so sure I "need" that. A bazillion years ago L'Oreal made a Fabulash mascara which included a little container of powder type material with a small brush applicator to apply before the mascara. When they discontinued it I used face powder with a small brush and have always liked how it helped to prevent mascara from going on too gloppy. I'm using Lancome's lash primer now but not sure I'll replace it when it's gone; may just go back to powder.

Haha, I also spent about an hour watching her videos. I have actually used several of her product recommendations and think she is right on. She is much easier to watch/listen to than many makeup bloggers, and I like her look. Makeup products are my weakness, I am going to have to avoid Ulta because now I want some new products!! I would have several procedures if I could afford it.

mtn, yes it is the IT brand which stands for innovated technology and it is their color corrector creme. I dont use it all over my face, just in certain spots, like eyelids, under eye area and around my nose. It really does correct the color in those areas to match the rest of my face.

dsg, their foundation is different than the cc cream. I have never tried that, I dont like foundations.

It was their CC in a compact that was suggested for me since I haven't had good luck with liquids. I

dsg, I had tried that one as well and didnt like it. Why dont you give the cc cream a try. Beware they have two kinds now, one is more "dewy" or shiny looking imo. I buy the original one.

Just wanted to share with you some of the experiences I've had with skin care. This I really long for me since I rarely chime in.

I had Fraxel around my eyes 5 yrs ago. At that time there were 3 different Fraxel lasers available. The Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon I used (and still do for skin treatments) used the strongest which only requires one treatment. Since then I know she's gone back to CO2 because the results are better. I also have friends who had complete whole face CO2 laser. After a few years, their skin still looks great and healthy. All in their 60's.

i looked at the site listed and noticed she still had brown spots. This usually can be improved by IPL treatments which is laser type, no down time, and a little uncomfortable during the treatment. Same friends and I have had these treatments. You actually see the brown spots lift off and disappear and it's used to on the small spider veins that sometimes appear at your nostrils It's also good for brown spots on hands. I rarely wear foundation now since having these treatments. My skin has improved tremendously. I'm 64.

Just want to share with you some other products which you can get on-line that have worked for me and were also recommended to me by the same board certified cosmetic surgeon. Jan Marini bioglycolic wash used daily at night. I use the one for oily skin which is strongest and my skin can tolerate it. I'm olive toned. This is strong at first because it exfoliates. Jan Marini Bioglycolic Creme used 3x a week at night. I mix a little retina A with it.

When I do use foundation, it's by Colorescience. It's made to lay on the surface of your skin, does not penetrate into your pores, and has great coverage without looking caked on. Very natural. I turned a few friends onto it and they love it. Unfortunately they changed their line around and no longer offer the creme foundation. TG I recently found the primer and foundation on eBay and Amazon. Need to call them to see what they are recommended in their updated line. I used to use Chanel luminere for years.

Same Dr. Recommended Neutrogena Moisturizer for daily use.

I still have some fine lines but that's age appropriate. My skin is shiny healthy.

Rose Abbey - I have quit foundations and am currently using a CC cream. I use a little mineral powder over it, or depending on the season, a bit of mineral bronzer powder or mineral highlighter powder. I looked up the IT CC cream(s). Do you use

IT Cosmetics Full Coverage Physical SPF 50 CC Cream? Do you use the brush? QVC has a special on the CC cream plus brush, thinking I might give it a try. Thanks!

Tina, I use the one in the link below. I received the brush when I ordered the first time, but I dont use it, just use my fingers and than I have a small brush to help blend around my nose. I dont use the cream all over my face just in specific spots I need. I use a sunscreen underneath it. The shade I have is fair and it is undetectable on my skin in a 5x mirror. I really like it. Hope it works for you.

Roseabby, does that have color? Says it replaced foundation, but only shows one choice.

Allison, it comes in 5 shades, it only shows one choice because they are out of stock right now. The shades are fair, light, medium, tan and rich.

Yes, that's the one I saw on QVC's website (I googled) and it is 39.something with the brush added. Ulta has it for $38.00. I use fair in the CC I am using now. Thanks for the info!!

DD just had a consult yesterday and it was recommended for her. The doc said it lifts the eyes, and sometimes even the jaw line a bit. Will show her the vid. I'm thinking of getting it done also, along with a few other treatments, later on. ;)
