Old tired and yellowed, all fresh and new with chalk paint.

I had an old curio that used to live in my French country style house in Connecticut that was very yellowed but melded perfectly to my previous pale yellow and red rose furniture. I now live in San Diego and have a monochromatic creamy white theme going on in my entire house. My poor old curio did not fit in. Enter chalk paint and what I did this afternoon to update the look. What do you think?

It was pretty easy and I was so happy to get rid of the ugly heavy gilded look on this piece. Here is another look.

Great subtle improvement! I love how the piece resonates with the wall mirror trio visually.

It's pretty ornate. Was there much prep work?

To Boomer775, it was already super clean, I am a little ocd about that so all I had to do was the one light coat of paint, a little sanding to bring back some of the original color and then wax. I just was looking to improve the color but keep the highlights just more subtle. It took an afternoon. I was happy with how easy it was..

Yes it is two pieces and no interest in selling it. I have had it for many years and bought it in my moms hometown at an antique store and stores my grandmothers old Hummel collection. My family has been gone for many years and this piece is part of my memories of them. Hope you find another.

it’s had a journey back and forth across the US in the past ten years and makes me think of my mom and grandmother every time I look at it
