Persil Pro-Caps and Up & Up Spring Bloom Softener

It's happened to us all! We love the scent of a detergent. We love the scent of a liquid softener. We put them together...and OMG, bad bad bad!

Well....this is NOT the case with Persil Pro-Caps and Spring Bloom softener. They smell absolutely AMAZING together. I think they smell almost as good as Vintage Tide powder mixed with Classic April Fresh Downy or Spring Bloom softener.

If you have the Pro-Caps and Spring Bloom softener....Try them together. I love it!!!

Ahh..Good news Larsi..I've been holding my breath about the Persil Caps expecially sinse the heavy sudsing you had the first time. I knew you would love the scent of this detergent. Its so fresh smelling and cleans so well. Glad your enjoying these two together.

Hummm...so why can't the geniuses make this same scent for the liquid and powders?

One of these evenings I am off to buy the pro caps!!!!!! I already have the spring bloom fabric softener, so I am half way there. I would have assumed the pro caps would have smelled the same as the 2 in 1 but it is sounding like they smell better. More fun stuff to try! Thanks for another recommendation.

I bought the Target softener but I am afraid to try the Persil in my little Asko after what Larsi's LiGi experience.

Donna-37.....Just do not make my first couple of mistakes (smallish loads).

I have now used the Pro-Caps at least 6-7 times, and no sudsing problems. My LiGi is not much bigger than your Asko, and as long as the wash load is large and actually needs to be washed.....Suds are not a problem. I used one for a CA King sheet set and no wash suds or rinse suds issues, even at 140F!!!

They smell AMAZING!!!!! Listen to Mama (and me ;)

Donna..the Persil Caps are two seperate chambers so you could poke each chamber with a pin and squeeze out half of each lol...I know it makes more work but not much and these babies are so worth it. They are also sold in small bags for around 5 bucks to try. They really are probably one of the best on our market. IMO.

I swore I would never again buy Walmart Persil after a bad experience with both the liquid and the pearls (disgusting smell a few days after washing). I love Euro and UK Persil, but the Walmart Persil was a disappointment in every respect. So I read this thread and thought NO WAY am I trying the caps... until someone wrote that the caps were actually made in Hungary. So there was a chance that they were actually the same as Euro Persil. You guys are persuasive ;-)

I stopped at Walmart last night and got a small bag to try. Well, I think they actually ARE Euro Persil, not Walmart Persil!!! It seems that Henkel US decided to just bring them in as they are, without trying to "improve" them for the US market. They smell great, just like any other Persil detergent I got in Europe.

BTW, I have never before used pods and these seem to work great in my LG FL. I did one load last night and so far so good! No suds and things came out clean (it wasn't a particularly dirty load but it was a decent size).

izeve....Great News. Yeah, I posted about them being Made in Hungary! This is one of the big reasons I decided to give them a try. I too think this is real, Euro Persil, and not dumbed down Walmart USA made Persil.

As long as my wash load is large and actually needs to be washed....minimal sudsing and good rinsing. Every stain removed and laundry looks, smells and feels wonderful.

Well, I just pulled out mine, that I bought for a trip I took last summer. I am using them on my DH's underwear. In my Miele, I am using the "Whites" setting, on hot, but without the prewash option, so the soap doesn't go down the drain when it empties and refills for the main wash. I will see what I think of this. It seemed rather strong last summer when I used it, IIRC. Smelling the bag, it does smell good. One packet and the suds level is perfect in the Miele with a full load of whites. I did add the "extended" option, to the load, and 3 rinses. I'll report back later today. I don't use FS typically, so I don't have the Up and Up FS.

    @ enduring.....Please let us know!!

Larsi..do these caps smell anything like the Euro ones???I'm thinking they are the same and it would have been to costly to manufacture different ones for the US...I think someone else mentioned that also.

Back in October I posted about using these on whites with pure sodium percarbonate and how brilliant my whites were..last night I did a load of whites using 2 Caps, sodium percarbonate, and stpp..130F.. my whites are brilliant. .white socks look newish...this is such a excellent detergent. ..IMO as much as I like the US Pearls and 2in1..the Caps are superior.

I like the smell of these pods. It does remind me of the Walmart Persil powder. I do really like the Walmart Persil powder. Neutral to the smell of the liquid.

mamapinky, the caps smell exactly like Euro Persil powder. I did another load with them over the weekend and they are definitely a keeper.

The Walmart Persil liquid and the powder are vile in my opinion - they smell different than the caps and their smell disintegrates after a while into something disgusting.

Thanks Eve....I have Walmarts Pearls and Euro Perls, I can't smell a difference. I'm amoung the people that have no bad issues with any of the US Persils. There are a few here that do have ligit problems with them though and we may never know why, but I tend to lean towards water chem or FS.

@ MamaP....It must be water chemistry, since I've tried the USA (Walmart) Persil powder and liquids with NO fabric softener....and I still end up with vomit, sour laundry. The Persil Pro-Caps though.....PHENOMENAL!!! :)

mamapinky, I have never used Euro Perls so I was not able to compare the Walmart Pearls to them, but I do have Euro Persil powder and the Walmart Pearls smell quite different from it. The caps smell exactly like Euro Persil powder.

BTW, I still have some leftover Walmart Pearls from a few months ago and they turned blue. Very strange.

I also have Euro Persil Universal powder (Thanks Alex) and to me the Persil caps smell very different. LOL.

I have to agree with MamaP. Euro/German Persil Universal Powder and Persil Pro-Caps smell very different to me.

I like both scents, but do actually prefer the Pro-Caps scent!

The Persil powder I currently have is Eastern European Persil Color. I think the caps smell just like it. Since both the caps and my Persil powder are made in Eastern Europe, maybe that explains the difference? In any event, I do like the Persil caps ;-)

Just bought a bag of the caps. A load is going in the SQ front loader. One thing I noticed was that there were no suds at all with one pac. I was half tempted to pause the machine and make sure the water was slippery, but I resisted. I used the spring bloom softener as well, the load is about to end. I am anxious to see how it came out... Ding... ok I will be right back.... Ok I'm Back :). Clothes feel and smell wonderful but not much different than they do with the 2 in 1 liquid, which I also love. I have never had any "off" smells as the result of the liquid. I love the spring bloom softener so for sure they will discontinue it. Same with TV shows, if I like it that's an automatic guarantee it will be cancelled. I still haven't gotten over the cancellation of "Drop Dead Diva" LOL. I digress. Have a great day everyone.

I finally got em this week. First loads drying now

After hanging in the closet for a couple of days I am not in love with the scent left in the clothes. Its just incredible the difference in experiences with the same products. I prefer the way my clothes smell with the liquid 2 in 1 and the spring bloom when compared to the Pro-Caps and spring bloom.. Something about my clothes does not smell fresh, cant exactly put my finger on it. Maybe its just my own personal interpretation of the scent.

Wow..such differences. Your the first so far to give a less than great review on the Persil caps scent..at least I think you are. Anyway if youuse them again keep us informed pplease.

Still LOVE everything I have washed using Persil Pro-Caps and Spring Bloom softener...towels, sheets, clothes, aprons and jackets!!

After hearing all the rave reviews I just had to get the Spring Bloom, too. Of course I opened the bottle up at Target, actually more than one bottle and they smelled differently! There was two distinct smells going on with two different numbers printed on the bottles. Like different batches maybe? But I do like the scent.

You could definitely have a point that I didn't think about. I just started a new bottle of spring bloom with the load I discussed above. This makes total sense and could describe the differences in the experiences other than just the water. If the companies do not have stringent quality control (and in a way why would they?) there may be differences in the production runs. This could be enough of a difference to vary the experiences we all have. They may figure that subtle variations in batches will go completely un-noticed....

And they probably would go un-noticed with the general population.

I have been using Walmarts Great Value FS, and have yet to find a difference in preformance, or scent compared to the Spring Bloom, and I'm telling you the bottles and lids are identical. Not to much gets past Mamas nose. LOL

I am going to buy the Great Value FS next. It is common for a company to produce many of the same products across different generic store brands.

Yes it is, because there are only a few manufactures of the stuff.

Boo hoo, second time using the pro-caps and I just don't like the scent left in the clothes. Thank goodness I bought a small trial size. I will take the liquid over these anyday. :(

Love that Spring Bloom softener. Best stuff I have ever used. Not tried the Fresh Linen scent though.

rpsinfo...BEST stuff, I agree. I keep 4-5 bottles MINIMUM on hand (fear of Target cancelling it). 2nd best scent to Classic Downy April Fresh!! Amazing product. Thin, fluid, not sticky, waxy or greasy and clothes look and feel fresh!

    Larsi-Totally agree
