Hello I am looking for design ideas for two areas in our family room. The first is the tv wall. We removed the built in and the handyman left us with a huge deep hole with no shelving. Ideas? We don't want a cabinet but need something to house the cable box, etc.

The second is the fireplace wall with cut out through to the playroom. It is such a deep cut out and ends up being a dumping ground for things. We thought of closing it up but maybe a built in shelve idea for the one side is the way to go. The fireplace will be off center and we still need to deal with the ledge on the other side.
