Is she registered anywhere? If not, you could suggest that she do so that she'll get things she really wants/needs.

Personally, I love Le Creuset ceramic stoneware. I have a bunch of colors, shapes, sizes. I frequently buy them at HomeGoods and use them for casseroles, gratins, crumble, etc. from microwave to oven to table. Twice they've cracked, but you can send them to Le Creuset and they will replace them. Also, shop around.

Towels and sheets are tough to purchase these days as everyone has such specific likes and dislikes with regard to thin, thick, crisp, soft, wrinkle-free, etc. If I were faced with the same situation, I would probably stick to a known chain like Pottery Barn or Macy's where the items could be easily returned or exchanged if accompanied by a gift receipt.

Check Home Goods. They carry high end pots/pans, at discount prices. They have sheets, towels, etc. at much better prices than department stores.

If you have one in your area, visit there before buying anything. You will have some nice choices and you will get ideas.

I think llbean has good quality for both items and they would come with the llbean guarantee. Plus they could be exchanged for a pretty wide variety of other items.

If you have a Tuesday Mornings. - Melange 100% and 55% bed linens are currently at ours. I recently bought 2 queen 100% sheet sets. Much less than even online. Heaven for us. Not everyone likes linen though. I am a "challenged sleeper" and really need a comfy space to find sleep.

I shop Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn for sheets but love, love my affordable Charisma towels from Costco. They're thick and soft, and just the right size for bathing. I would buy them even if I had an unlimited budget for towels.

Frontgate is running their sale right now. I just bought new towels and sheets for myself. Their Resort Collections is very nice.

I think that's a great idea! I wish people would buy me luxury items instead of trinkets and blenders.
