We inherited one of those IKEA sinks in our latest project house. As I remember, the sink goes into a 36 inch cabinet with the flat part of the underneath side resting on the cabinet sides. Then, the front of the sink sits on a cross bar mounted inside the cabinet. Now, as I recall, the top of the sink is slightly wider than the 36 inch portion by about a half inch or less on each side. In that kitchen, the owners had put pieces of wood on the cabinet sides to make the sink sit higher so that it would overlap the countertop beside it. They did it as an overmount sink which appeared to rest on the countertops on each side. That solution should work for you, if you don't object to having the sink atop your counters. Or, if you're getting the counters replaced also, just build up the top of the cabinets so the new countertop sits even with the sink The Porcher sink is considerably narrow than 36" and would certainly fit in a 36 inch cabinet. I have one of those in my kitchen - but, purchased from my local ReStore for $40. So, there are other ways than just IKEA - keep an eye out at ReStore, salvage yards, Craigslist, and demo sales.

hi all, Thanks for the input, to answer your questions: the overhang in front of the sink is not the same on either side. It varies by a little more than a 1/4 of an inch. The overhang is larger on the right. The front of the sink is parallel with the front edge of the counter but not the back because the counter is cut in a trapezoid shape. it is 25.5" deep on the left and 25" deep on the right. The sink is not square with the cabinet, it is square to the front edge of the counter, but neither is square with the wall or the cabinet. The wall and the cabinet are square to each other. And I'm upset because I don't want a trapezoidal countertop. The contract states that they will not cut to fit the wall so the contractor in no way had to cut the material to fit the wall, and the wall tho a little wavy is at least basicly straight. The piece didn't match the template and therefore wouldn't fit. I am guessing that he cut it because it was easier to cut the back and make it trapezoidal to fit rather than having to cut a polished edge and make it fit properly in the same way that the template fit properly.

Hi Jen. It is a pretty rug. For me to photoshop it in your room I would need a picture of the entire rug...and I can't seem to find one online or on Ballards website. So I just pieced a rug together using your picture...so don't laugh:) Maybe someone more talented than me could do better.

Move on - as others have posted this appears to be effectively a table for four. There is a picture of the table with some white upholstered chairs at either end which shows how squished seating would be. FWIW, I just finished selected a new dining room table and considered a lot of options with both aesthetics and functionality in mind. I went with a center pedestal table. My first dining room table years ago was the ubiquitous oak round table with the lions paw feet. It was 48" round with an 18" leaf which pulled out to make a racetrack type of shape. It was actually very functional in terms of size and seating comfort. I then got what was a much longer racetrack table with no leaves. Again, it worked well in terms of seating comfort as people could squeeze in if need be because there were no legs limiting where chairs could go. I just remodeled and am having a racetrack table made by a local woodworker which is inspired by this Art Deco table. At your price point, you might look for used furniture. I had to literally give away my table recently as there was no interest in it. The consignment shops; used furniture; craigslist are filled with so much furniture because it is practically indestructible. The table I got rid of had been finished with what some kind of finish that was similar to what is used for wood floors. I had it for years with no issues except the obvious like using trivets for hot items and not keeping wet items on for prolonged periods of time.
