I'm working with a local family owned design build. They don't have the staff that a large outfit does, but I'm happy and confident in my decision. We are still in planning stages which is taking long, but that's what you get when you work with a smaller firm.

I've also had several contractors come out but they were just not a good fit for us. It's our first remodel and we needed more guidance and design help that contractors just didn't offer. Our design build specializes in kitchens and baths. I'm expecting there might be delays because they are smaller but so far the experience with the design process has been good.

do you think there is a significant cost difference of large versus small Design-build firm?

Yes, the smaller one won't have as much overhead. At least that has been my experience.
