X-Posted: What to pair with this Bisazza tile for kids bath?

I'm hoping to get some creative ideas for how to lay this Bisazza tile in my kids bath. We inherited some leftover tile from my parents (we could NOT afford it at $30/sq ft!) but we don't have enough for the kids bathroom, which is where I want to use it. I was thinking about maybe making a "rug" out of the Bisazza tile, but then what kind of tile do I put around it? Just plain white ceramic squares? Something else?

Do I not do a "rug" but use it as trim? I'm still left with the same dilemma of what other type of tile to use though...

There is nothing quite as costly and unsatisfying as receiving something expensive as a gift and decorating around it. Even if you like it, that sort of thing ends up costing more than something you would have chosen for yourself.

How much do you have? As a rug design I'd pair it with white small squares. It is so pretty, I'd enjoy seeing it as a backsplash.

If there's enough to use as an accent stripe going around the tub surround, you can use it with any white rectangular (or square) field tile. Or, if you want to use it as a border on the floor, instead of a "rug", you can pair it with any white floor tile of your choosing.

It's very pretty, and it will be a nice accent in a kids' bathroom. You can add some fun, kid-like accessories to bathroom in the way of towels (colorful, in matching or contrasting colors), wall hangings, etc., and then replace with more "grown-up" items as your kids get older. Lots of options! :)

If you LOVE the tile, I would say use it. Are you doing a whole bath remodel yourself? If so, it could be used as a border in your tub/shower surround or placed in a niche. I've also seen mosaics used in the center of one wall of a surround. If you want to use it on the floor - make a to-scale diagram so you know what you're working with. I think it would be great in a kid's bath.

Ok so I actually have multiple colors (they used about 5 different colors all throughout their bathrooms and kitchen). The most I have of any one color is 22 sq ft. The kids bathroom is about 60 sq ft. I was going to save that one for our shower - it's a light pearly color. But I could use that one if I needed to. Of this one, I only have 9 sq ft but then I have an additional 5 sq ft of a slightly lighter blue. I know that's not much, but to answer your question, Torrey, yes, I LOVE this tile. I would like to use it any way I can.

I would use it in something less permanent and costly to replace than a floor or shower--something DIY. You could use a row or two as an accent in tiled wainscoting, depending on the size of the individual tiles.

What I like about some of these examples is how the accent tile is sandwiched between rows of white tile.

Here the accent tile is used between wood panels. You could use beadboard for a coastal feel to match the tile colors, and it would be less formal than this for a kid's bath.

Or you could glue a plain mirror to the wall and tile the entire wall around it. That looks best when the vanity is in an alcove.
