Bird I.D.?

it's call is shrill & sounds like a tree frog on steroids. this bird stays in heavy foliage & when I try getting close it clams up. I caught a glimpse ( I think ) but it was high overhead & I was looking into the sun. it appears to be a tad smaller than a cardinal.

You didn't give us much to work with (no location), but I find Great Crested Flycatchers to sound like frogs. You can listen to their sounds on All About Birds (Cornell Lab of Ornithology) or Xeno-canto.

other than being in the st louis area there's not much more to tell. I've yet to get a look. i'll check out those recordings.
