We're about to begin a kitchen remodel, and our contractor has included a bid from a custom cabinet guy to build, install, and paint the cabinets + island. They will also (first) install the wood floor. It sounds like they usually stain (rather than paint) the cabinets, and I want to be sure that I'm asking the right questions to be sure it's going to be done right/best quality. Their plan is to install the cabinets, then paint them in place. What type of finish/paint should I request? Oil? Conversion varnish? A particular # of coats? Spray vs brush? Thanks for any info.
