Need Roadrunner ID

There must be at least two varieties of them, as I saw one that I have never seen or heard in my 62 years..It was atop my roof, cooing like a morning dove and it sported a red mohawk looking crest that was almost flat to the head....Ever seen one ?..Identify, please.

There is only one species of roadrunner in the U.S., the Greater Roadrunner. Adults have an orangish/red postorbital area just past the blue orbital (eye) skin on the side of the head. This is area is often obscured but can be seen when the bird is displaying such as when they sing (coo). I've attached a pic I found on line that you might find useful. Greater Roadrunner Because the crest was flat on the head, it most likely looked like the crest was red.
