I use what we called secretarial chairs. I have two areas going at any one time so have two chairs, probably thrift shop finds. They have wheels, no arms, and seats are sort of squarish and contoured a bit to fit that part of my anatomy. They are fully adjustable in height and seats rotate. I am up and down a lot even when sewing all day. These work well for me.

I would suggest taking a book with you and testing the different chairs for a while. Almost all furniture feels OK for a short down&up. It's when one stays put for a while that the discomfort starts.

The back of the chair comes in handy when I want to move it from place to place. ☺

I use a secretarial type chair, also - on rollers. No arms, but I do like having a back when I want a "seated-stretch" break. Minie is also countoured, like toolgranny's. Mine also has a squarish seat - 17". It also has height adjustmest on the seat which I find helpful.

I also use an office chair on rollers with no arms......$5 at the thrift store. The seat is shorter from front to back and that's fine with me as I'm a short person. However, there are times I want to sit higher than what the chair goes so I just fold some blankets (or use the 'donut') to make myself higher. I sometimes wish for arms on the chair, but that's more of a safety feature for me.

I have my old office chair from work, they were nice enough to let us have stuff when they closed the place and sent the work to India. It's ragged out, doesn't roll very good and it has arms. I'm too cheap to buy a new one.

I use a bungee chair from Container Store. I love it. They come with or without arms, and are amazingly comfortable.
