    Is that Kevin's house?

It is still nice but without his colors, art, fabrics and lovely furniture it now seem so ordinary even with the great beams and floors.

It lost a lot of eye candy oomph :(.

I remember that house from my first times on GW! Loved that little kitchen.

That's interesting. Kevin's home was beautiful, but a little overdone and staid for me. I think this is a fresher more open look and probably shows well. I'm not keen on the bedroom colors but the house is appealing - small, but cute.

Pal - do you think it's staged? I noticed the closet is empty and the counters are bare in the kitchen.

They kept the bedrooms curtains with the fringe. Smart move! :)

Wow! Those owners didn't live there long, did they...just long enough to add some strange paint colors.

The bones are all there. I would still like the house, but it doesn't feel as rich, warm and special. I couldn't believe Kevin was selling ti so soon and I really can't believe it is on the market again.

Wow, it looks so different. I recognize the window treatments in the bathroom because I have the same shade. I liked it the way Kevin had it, for the most part. He kept true to the historical nature of the house, although I had the feeling he reall loved history. The contemporary touches now are kind of jarring. I love that street but there are drawbacks, especially parking.

Hi Pal, nice to hear from you.

I like how the living space is divided. If you can't have an eat-in kitchen, then putting the LR in the lower level makes sense. Nice beams down there, too.

    Who's Kevin?

    Pal, thanks for posting.

I wonder what Kevin would think about it. I know some people can just walk away from homes and don't care about what the new owners change. I however, saw photos of our buyer's current house and my heart sank because the decorating was very dark and fussy, Oh well, I have great real estate pics of my decorating choices and I'll try not to think about it my Monterey White walls being painted mauve.

LisaD82, KevinMP was a GW member who posted often about his home. He has excellent taste and many of us enjoyed his posts and photos.

Thank you, D_gw. I'll search his name to learn more. I appreciate that you shared this information.

I loved Kevin's decor and I love this too.

If I didn't know it was Kevin's I would not have put two and two together. I did remember the bathroom and kitchen.

Maybe at some point Kevin will post pictures of his new home. I know he is married now and in a larger home.

I wonder where he put Thomas Jefferson?

I'm sorry I even looked at it . It had been so true to the historical period, from the Williamsburg wall colors to the furniture and decor; it was perfect.

That was a little depressing, but better than added lions heads and faux marble columns, I suppose.

I was also wondering who Kevin is. Mostly I'm excited to see a post from Pal again. :)

I was able to find KevinMP's old posts about his before and after but all the pictures are gone. :(

They repainted the dining room!! I loved that blue so much during my early lurking days on GW. The before and after really offer a powerful statement of how paint and furnishings can transform a space - it's still a lovely home, but Kevin made it a masterpiece.

It's not my style but overall seemed quite well done until I got to the orange/apricot walls. I gather when Kevin was in residence it must have been an altogether different, very nice look.

I would guess it is staged. It looks empty. No personal items, clutter, etc. neutral paint colors - just what a realtor would probably recommend. Funny tho - they need to water the plants!

Here are pics of it when KevinMP owned it.....

I cannot believe that the new owners painted that gorgeous front door - on the dining room side. But they did add a beautiful dining chandelier and a kitchen fixture.

Here's a quick side-by-side comparison of two of the rooms. For me, this is a study in how going dark/rich/bold (instead of sticking with light/bright/neutral) is worth the risk!

Well, thank goodness they didn't paint the beams.

Without Kevin's personal touches it does not hold the same appeal, at least not for me. Thank you for sharing Pal!

I loved how Kevin had his home decorated. Remember when he had to get his new Hancock & Moore chair go in through a window?

Thanks for sharing, Pal. Interesting to see how different it looks now. I preferred it when Kevin owned it.

Without Kevin's personal touches it does not hold the same appeal, at least not for me.

Agree. The visual wow factor is lacking for me now.

Thx for posting Kevin's photos, olychick. The things I remember him most for was the trim on the drapes, where to place TJ, and hoisting the H&M chair in through an upper window. He made every detail perfect.

It was always fun to see what he was up to, even though it wasn't anything I would have ever chosen. It's hard to believe that he could decorate his new home without the help of his fans here! Perhaps the new spouse has her/his own opinions and taste that will supersede all others.

Wow. I remember seeing Kevin's home and really admiring what he was doing/ had done. I don't dislike what the current owners did, but I would have loved it as it was.

I remember his incredible taste in furniture and the care he took in selecting each piece, and the decisions that led through the kitchen reno. Thanks for posting. I feel like the new home is doing it's best to reject the coral and mint green wall paint and is just a temporary storage place for the new furniture.

    What happened to him?

Alas - he dumped us! He married and moved to the suburbs, not too far from Dedtired out toward the Mainline.

Kevin's old place reminds me of a doll house - everything perfectly placed and in proportion. It was lovely and in a wonderful location.

From personal experience I can add that living in a row home/townhouse like Kevin's is definitely for those who are in great shape or perhaps will get in better shape by going up and down all those steps. And it just might improve your memory skills too because you don't want to have to go back up to the bedroom on the third floor if your forgot something. To keep your sanity you also get quite adept at putting everything away.

The one we rented was slightly larger than Kevin's - it was about 840 square feet, Kevin's is 728 square feet. Ours was a true Trinity - one room on each floor with the kitchen a half floor below ground level. Ours had been remodeled and had a straight staircase rather than the curved one like Kevin's.

At least Kevin's had 2 rooms on each floor and the kitchen was on the main floor.

DS lived in a Trinity for 2 years and couldn't wait to move. He purchased one that had been combined with the adjacent unit and gutted. The walls were removed and 2 new units constructed - one on top of the other - he has the top 2 floors. It lost the historic charm but is definitely more livable.

This is a great explanation of the origin of Philly's Trinities - the original 'small home' movement.

I'd love to get a look inside Kevin's new place. He moved to a charming area. I hope his new bride is as talented a decorator as he is, or lets him do his thing!

I've reached an age where I avoid stairs whenever possible. Well, it's not that bad but I do try to avoid extra trips. I would not last long in a Trinity, charming as they can be.

Thanks for this, Pal. A wonderful reminder of Kevin's transformation : )

This is under contract. I believe in one week.

The new owner might be surprised to find out that their place is famous on this corner of the internet.

Seems like such a great place in the city; I'm not surprised.

Everyone in the area should get together and go visit the new owners....imagine all the casseroles, pies, and cakes you all could take!

Kevin did such a beautiful job on his home. I wish he hadn't abandoned us!
