Are you anywhere within reach of an ikea store? You can go to any store and play around in a whole bunch of kitchens to see if it bothers you.

Thank you. It all looked fine at the store but you know how they have giant spaces and super high ceilings.

I personally prefer at least 20 inch height especially with the deeper uppers. In my own kitchen I have 22 inches between counter and my 14 inch deep upper cabinets but also have a wonderfully useful 7 inch deep shelf about 7 inches below my upper cabinets.High enough to still keep small appliances stored.

I currently have 20" ( was designed that way for one of those monster first-generation microwaves) and I truly hate it. The extra space on the counter is nice, but it makes anything in the cabinets above the first shelf difficult to reach without a step stool.

Our last kitchen was Ikea akurum with 12" uppers, so when the Sektion uppers were installed on both sides of our narrowc galley I though, "uh oh, those are huge," But Im used to them now and they're fine. I think theyre 21" above countertop, but I'm almost 5'8" and dont have a problem with reach. We keep a kik-step at the end of the galley so my small kids have no problem getting stuff down.

I don't have IKEA, but I have 14" deep wall cabinets and I wish I had made it 15". A little more space to fit my glassware .

We love them - they fit so much! Ours are 18" over the counter and go all the way to ceiling, with some trim on top and bottom.
