What's the issue with the tables you have found and rejected?

Off the top of my head, you could try a wrought iron base with either a glass or stone top. You might want to have one of the tables be round or oval, to offset all the squared off, rectangular furniture in the room.

What metal is the floor lamp? (I can't make it out.) You could also look for tables with legs in that color metal, to help the lamp blend in to the rest of the room.

I like the personality of your room. I'd want to figure out a better way for the furniture to form a more cozy conversation area. Since you have the rug centered on the window, which looks good, I think I'd move the couch out from the wall and put a sofa table behind it with a lamp or two. People can/will use it for placing drinks/stuff, but it's a little awkward. Then you could move your two chairs a bit forward on the rug and they'd all relate to each other better.

Do you have a preference for materials? I thought immediately of a simple glass coffee table, maybe with an iron frame?

I thought something turquoise would really complement the orange, perhaps in the sofa table or lights? Something like this would be great at one end of the couch although this is red...but orange or turquoise or ?

ETA: maybe something on the lines of these - for fun?

Maybe change up the shape for an end table or two, perhaps simple and small and round - maybe the sofa table or end tables to match the wood in the poang?

I like aimeekm's suggestions. I was going to suggest haunting Craigslist for some sleek mid-century tables similar to those in her links. I like adding something older with mostly-new furnishings. Something like below, which is on my Craigslist for $75.
