Bought some Linen/Cotton sheets today :)

I was going to order another set, different colour RH 100% Linen sheets, but these 55% Linen 45% Cotton sheets feel and look great and reviews at B, B & B are good. Also, even with our RH Membership, these blended sheets were $120 less!!

Hard to see in the pic, but the colour is a beautiful pale lavender-gray! Soothing and calm. Will be washing and partial tumble drying & air drying to completion!

First you guys get me to wash with hot water, now you have me thinking about linen sheets. I bought the Target Threshold Performance 400 thread count sheets that Larsi recommended a while ago and I really like them. I like smooth and soft. I even like sateen. Do linen sheets feel smooth? They look so rough in the pictures, with the weave being so visible.

Socalgal...Linen sheets are not smooth. I used to be so worried too, ask AlexChicago, LOL. Linen sheets are very textured, but somehow they feel cool, slinky and luxurious. They are hefty, but not heavy. Very strange they are, but magical too.

I still have my Target Threshold cotton sheets and my Threshold Vintage washed Percale sheets...but my new Linen and Cotton/Linen sheets are wonderful. The Linen feel softer and a tad lighter than the Cotton/Linen...but both are great!

Larsi..I missed this post..your gonna love cotton/linen blend..lovely!!! I'm of course sooo jelly.

Socalgal, new linen sheets can be not exactly smooth until they are washed a dozen times..the more their washed the smoother they get. They are completely breathable and always feel cool to the touch. After enough washings they are absolute heaven. If you like smooth and soft you should like linen. But a linen/ cotton blend....is so delish and you liking smooth and soft would also love them.

Remember a good set of linen is expensive, but should last a few generations with heavy use. As our Roc says sheets are an investment.

I might have to check those cotton/linen sheets out sometime in the future. One thing that I don't like is cotton flannel sheets. I just don't like the fluffy texture and I stick to them somewhat. I hate putting my face on them. But linen kind of reminds me of flannel, yet I really like linen sheets. There is no fuzziness, and no sticking to the sheets. But they are coarser than cotton. But they are soft without scratchy. I like the weight of linen too. Washing will soften them up too.

Linen that is marked "stone washed" or "enzyme washed" will also be much smoother out of the bag than regular linen. Restoration Hardware, for example, is Belgian stone washed, I believe. Rough Linen is not.

Larsi is a good example of someone who was certain he would hate linen until he got it on the bed. It does not have that crisp, shocking first-touch cool that percale does. I do like that about percale. But linen does stay much more consistently cool while you sleep on it. It can also absorb a lot of moisture before feeling damp or clammy. Good if you sweat. But it's not for everyone

The color on yours are lovely and would go great in our bedroom that has white wainscoting and darkblue walls with a soft grey wall to wall carpet.

Let us know how they are when slept on...

We purchased a set of Westport Linen/Cotton (55/45) on sale at Macy's. The Queen set, after discount coupon applied was $65, free shipping included. Can't wait to try them out. I'm hoping they are an adequate replacement for our aging percale sheets.

Sat 7/23...they go on the bed today, will sleep on them tonight :)

Ok....First night on the Linen/Cotton sheets (55% Linen, 45% Cotton). First impression climbing into bed is that they are not ultra smooth and you kind of stick/cling to the material...not skin, but pajamas (I sleep in boxer briefs and a thin t-shirt).

They feel "heavier" than 100% linen, but are not heavy in a cumbersome way.

These sheets are cut well, and they are not as crazy big as the Restoration Hardware 100% linen. The RH linen fitted and pillowcases are normal sized, but OMG, the top sheet almost hangs to the floor. I guess better than too small!

These cotton/linen sheets, to me at least, feel cooler during the night. I did not ever feel too warm, as I oddly do with the 100% linen. The 100% linen feel silkier on skin and pajamas, but these blended sheets felt good.

I really like them. I do not love them yet, but all reviews say they get better with each wash & dry. I am happy I bought them. Also, they wrinkle much less than pure linen.

Clothes are probably sticking from the chemical treatments on the sheets. That will take numerous washings to rid them of it. They should get smoother after more washings...were they made with long cotton threads?

Rough Linen sheets are pre-washed. They are softer than linen that has not been softened, close to bought labeled softened. I've also bought yardage that is not softened -- BIG difference -- you can really tell the difference. I think the name RL puts a lot of people off. It's a bit rustic in the weave, but not rough.

I have analogized linen sheets to denim jeans, prewashed ones at that -- and not as heavy, but in they way your favorite jeans can be have a slightly earthy but comforting feel, have heft and softness at the same time -- and keep getting softer. DH had reservations about trying them -- I had to work on the idea a bit before he said "try them." We've hardly had any other sheets on our bed since we got them. They breathe nicely in summer and yet don't chill in the winter.
