My island is off center, but it is a bit different b/c the kitchen is an L shape, not a U. I was worried it would bother me, but it doesn't at all. Here is a pic.

Do you by any chance remember the measurements of your kitchen?

Is there enough space to put fridge on sink wall and have adequate counter space between? What's that wall dimension?

If the sink wall is 14'10", there should be plenty of space for the fridge, but the window might need to be adjusted to the right. Either way, I'd put the DW on the left side of the sink, to keep it out of the prep area between the sink and cooktop..

What kind of view do you have from the cooktop wall? Have you considered windows on each side of the hood, to allow more light in the kitchen?

To answer the original question I don't think an off-center island would look strange. kelleg, yours is beautiful!

I added in the Mama's suggestion of windows on either side of the cooktop. It will help bring so much more light into the space.

I have a u shaped kitchen with expansion will be very similar in dimensions to yours. I went back and forth looking at pictures and the plan and I just felt it was weird to have a long empty solid wall. Back when I first posted my layout, someone suggested doing something like your plan, except having the blank wall be the wall of windows and trying to get my sink on another wall ( it wasn't economically feasible because I'm on a slab foundation), but it might work for u.

You can try cooktop on locker wall, sink on back wall and keep window wall clear and add more Windows there
