Have you thought about a medium warmer gray?

I'm assuming you're only thinking of shuttering the single windows above the entry and to the right of the entry. Your big triple windows look great without shutters (and would look awkward with, actually). I would look to your stonework for color cues. Pull out a darker hue from it -- maybe it's a taupe-y gray?

You could go with a taupe-grey, however if you feel bold you could also try a muted maroon type color.

I like the lighter tone shutters; but I would work with the colours from the stonework.

I think a medium grey would work with the tones in your brick as well as with the shingles.

The color on the left was pulled from your front door panel. The color on the right was pulled from the light shutters you posted. I like the darker one.

estesdv has nailed itt: size the shutters correctly, in the right shape, and only put them on single windows. I would add that using some hinges gives them another layer of charm and a realistic look. The neighboring houses you show both have undersized shutters. I like the understated contrast of the taupe shutters in the last photo. I would go in that direction. I like the style you have selected - I think that will look great with the rusticity of the stone on your house! One more thing: I find that aluminum flashing above the tripe window on the right to be extremely distracting - it should be painted in.

I agree about the aluminum flashing. This should be copper. Great idea Kathryn about the hinges.

Use a a painted composite wood shutter. They look and feel just as good as natural wood, but hold up much better.

These guys can make custom made wood or composite wood shutters with arches, and they can also custom paint the shutters for you to match your front door.

Use Shutter S Holdbacks to make the shutters look like they are installed functionally. It gives a more authentic look.

I agree w/Kathryn..do an understated contrast to match your door...I like the ones you have picked out...an oiled bronze.hardware....what is on your front door ....your house is so pretty from the front....be careful how you address the windows on the inside....enjoy...its a wonderful house

Agree with everyone above about shutter size; the first thing I noticed was the undersized shutters. I like darker in the examples...

We finished the project! It actually looks better in person. The pictures don't do it justice. The pictures make it look like the shutters are too small but in real life they are good. Thanks everyone for your input!!!! I appreciated it so much!
