Hello, I am in the process of remodeling our small bath (6'x9') & am looking to install ship lap as well. I love your idea of cutting corners and using the 1"x's instead of the pricey alternative. My question is: what measures did you take in the installation process before nailing the 1"x's in place to ensure no moisture would penetrate the walls? I'm concerned the spaces between will lead to increased moisture accumulation. I plan on using 15lb roof/tar paper behind the boards, as well as priming them on all sides. Should I install a cement board or green board primarily instead of regular Sheetrock?
