Daughters bedroom finished! Now I just need the finishing touches

Thank you everyone for all the help in getting my daughters room put together. It's been a little while but I wanted to post pictures as it is now. Overall I'm pretty happy with the layout and how the room is functioning, however, it still feels a little bit cold. I think we need some stuff on the walls, any suggestions on what to put up would be most welcome! Celeste is almost 17.

I considered buying a Tapestry in pink and white from Etsy to cover the big space above the bed and night table next to the pink chair. I'm also thinking about buying a black Dreamcatcher to hang over the night table closest to the window. But I am completely open to any and all suggestions, I'd really like to make it feel a little cozier and warmer in here.

Very pretty! The triple plant holder is really fun.

I'd go onto Etsy and look at "wall art" and find some fun stuff. Love Etsy!

Yeah it seems like it needs some art or pictures...

My 5 year old wants something like this over her bed:

    Smithville house · More Info

I had something very similar I made myself when I was about ten and kept it up through high school.

Very pretty, the cat approves too! I think the tapestry would be great.

Thank you! This is the one I was thinking about: https://www.etsy.com/listing/252084268/pink-ombre-round-beach-blanket-roundie

but I do like the canopy idea too.... I even have something I could use for it! What color curtains or sheers would I use though?

And yes, my kitty Hazel loves to sit on Celeste's bed and watch the birds and squirrels in the yard :)

What a pretty and fun room for your daughter! I'd ask her what she might like hanging on the walls. Some fun art might brighten up some of the blank walls. Check out art.com for some big poster prints in standard sizes. You can then find some inexpensive narrow stock frames at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Here is a bold print as an example.

My neighbor's 14 year old daughter made one of these for herself this year - very easy and inexpensive but so cool. I'm going to make one this year for my children's bunk room

Put it on blinking lights and it looks like it's raining with lightning. It is SO cool.

Teresa, I remember your story. Thanks for checking in and sharing the result of all your efforts.

It turned out beautifully. Not sure if I am a fan of the blanket for the wall. I would do some kind of art. What would be Celeste's favorite things? If she enjoys the beach, then a beach photo or painting etc.

Right now the room looks picture perfect, and all that is left is for you need to put the personal stamp on in.

You need art on the walls -- not just over the bed or nightstand, but where she will see them on the other walls too. Tapestry sounds heavy and you have a lot of different textiles already, so without seeing it, I'm uncertain. Dreamcatcher could be nice -- is it all black or does it have some bright colors woven in (either could be good, depending on what else you do)? I am picturing some colorful watercolors, abstracts or nature pictures to bring in some other colors and interests

Two other things I would consider tweeking -- (1) a bottom up shade (or cafe curtain with the shade pulled up as an option) on the windows so she can see sky, cloud, trees and such rather than stuff in the yard (other option is more work, but you could clean up the yard items and plant some flowers in a bed or pots, add a birdbath or feeder -- especially if she ever spends daytime in the bed (I don't remember the specifics but I see it is a hospital bed), and (2) consider something other than only green plants that appear to all be identical in the plant holder. You could break it up with something blooming or flowers, feathers or dried plant material (curly twigs, pods, etc.), Put rolled towels, t shirts or something else colorful in the pots. I like something different or less expected, but it may not be right for her. Looking nice.

Pretty room, I love the color combo.

My daughter, age 19, loves the tapestries. That's what we ended up with for her dorm room. Anthropologie has some fun ones.

I would love to be able to add some flowering plants in there! Unfortunately it doesn't get a whole lot of light and the only thing that will survive are low light plants which tend to all sort of look the same. But I do like the idea of feathers or other fun stuff I might be able to stick in the pots with the plants.

    I love the tapestry idea.

It's wonderful. I bet she will love it. I suggest you let her pick out the wall art, on Etsy or shopping. That way she has her mark on the final product.

When my daughter was 16 *she* did the decorating, or at least the choosing of what went on her walls (mostly posters) or hung from the ceiling. It had to fit within the budget, but otherwise, she chose. It was a battle I didn't need to fight.

Pictures with a splash of color!

I love the vinyl wall decor...something like 'be your own kind of Beautiful'...or some butterflies or whatever your daughter is into. Check etsy. Hobby lobby has some too but Etsy has more sizes and variety. Pretty room.

Love the bedding and the pink accent items. The bedside lamp is super cute. Perhaps a valance or some curtain panels in a pink print like used in that toss pillow on the bed would add a nice touch to the window.

Good luck finding some art work/pictures for the walls.

Very pretty room. It's sophisticated but still fun. I'd have her take photos and enlarge her favorites, perhaps black and white.

    Or Christmas lights.

    Or both

You've done a wonderful job! It's obvious that a lot of love and thought has gone into it. Good luck!

If you have a world market cost plus go there! I was just there today and they have some beautiful tapestries and wall hangings in fantastic colors they definitely have the stuff to brighten it up including art all for reasonable prices.

Love the room and the color combination.

I think you nailed it. Really, no need for more.

I like your idea of hanging the candy in the corner over the chair.
