Pls help me find Modern looking 30x60 apron tub under $700

I'm looking for apron tubs with a modern look and am looking for suggestions. These will be heavily used by kids where they will be both bathing and showering, so I need a durable, yet modern looking tub with a flat front. Trying to decide between acrylic or steel. Any thoughts on which would hold up better in a kids bathroom?

The contenders:

1) Kaldewei Cayono - German made steel http://www.wayfair.com/Kaldewei-Cayono-60-x-30-Bathtub-155-156-KWI1394.html

2) Zuma: http://www.zumacollection.com/accessories.php?s_product_sku=Aprons

3) Kingston Brass: not sure about this one, I can't find many reviews of it.http://www.efaucets.com/detail.asp?Product_ID=VTDE603122L&ca=gpsl&CAWELAID=330001430002351251&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=20846111945&CATCI=pla-156056221265&gclid=CJ2F4rnuqs4CFQcaaQod_BUGlg

Any thoughts on these choices or other suggestions for a modern looking flat front apron tub? I'm leaning towards the Kaldewei, but would love to hear from others that have installed this tub and how it has held up.

I also saw the Mirabelle Edenton, but this doesn't get great reviews for quality and there are a couple old posts about pooling water, so I've eliminated that one

thanks, Pal. I also just found the Duravit Architec which runs around $500 which looks like a good choice as well. Headed off to a showroom this weekend to look at a few in person and will report back on what we select.

Duravit architec is nicest looking modern tub at that price point that I've seen, Mirabelle didnt do it for me aesthetically and seemed cheap but I cant attest to performance

I was all set to buy the Bellwether (32 inch width) based on online comments reviews and pictures. I researched and found the extra long spout that would be required, At the last minute I traveled to a showroom that had one on the floor, and climbed in. It was much too narrow for my tastes. I'm replacing a 30 inch tub which is wider inside. If I'm getting a larger tub, I certainly expect to have it roomier.

I'm not in any way saying that it's not a great tub. I'm just suggesting that any tub you get has to be seen in person. Don't be shy. Take off your shoes and climb in, and see how you like it.

I have the Duravit Architec. I paid $645 two years ago, but mine is 32x60. I got it through my KD/BD, and didn't actually price it myself.

I like it. It's actually deeper than I need. Everyone said, go deep! But I could be just as happy with less deep. I'm 5'4" so the width is ample for me.

With acrylic tubs you have to be careful with what you use to clean them. SoftScrub works fine.

Thanks for the feedback and info everyone! We decided on the Duravit Architec. It seems to be just the right dimensions and the aesthetic is exactly what we were looking for. I'll post photos once it's installed.

Deleted my last comment. I see that they do have a 60" version; they just show it at an angle that makes it appear to be a drop-in.

Pipdog, the Architec is a great looking tub. Generally I don't go for a contemporary look but it's different in a bathroom and this tub is just a nice clean design.

You will need non-skid strips lest you slip and break your neck. :O Unless they've changed the tub bottom and now have a nonskid surface, it is dangerously slick when wet. It took me one shower to figure that out! However, these strips came to the rescue:

    Nonskid strips

I bought two packs (they're not expensive) and used both on the bottom of my tub. They're translucent and stick like crazy. Two years later, scrubbed, no loose edges anywhere.

    Enjoy your tub!!

Thanks linelle! I will definitely get these strips as these tubs are in kids' baths. Don't want any broken bones!!
