small pops of color. Art work behind sofa large piece but simple in composition as not to interfere with the ikat pattern already established. Put the lovely large bowl on top of the coffee table and fill it with something earthy, like moss covered balls or twiggy balls to keep things on the environmental track. Replace the gray pillows with one of the colors from the art work....in the green tones.

Maggie the pillows are blue, that match the pillows w the design, you think that bowl should go up top? I have a ep3 and 6 year old and am seeing balls flying everywhere lol...do u think a large mirror would look good?

Okay, back to business, the lamp doesn't do it for me. It's a bit small and the pattern on the lamp shade is a bit too much.

You could add a couple of more colourful cushions to the sofas, or just pillows in another texture or bolder pattern.

I actually like the curtains.

And yes... you need art above the sofa.

I like the greyish demi-lune (just learned a new word, thought I'd show off), but it looks too flimsy there don't you think? Perhaps it's just the photo frame above it that's just a bit too small and the things you've put on the table that look a bit like you couldn't find something else to put on there... sorry.... why don't you put your gorgeous bowl on the demi-lune? And there we found the perfect place for the black&white photos of your kids on canvas: two square ones (somewhat wider than the frame that's now above it), mounted above each other. Would be absolutely beautiful!

Yah I'm very matchy matchy so I'm told..liking the gray, white, black and teal (if that is the color). I actually do have smthg else that goes on demilune just got price adjust,met so its still in my trunk! As for curtains, what is difference btw drapes and curtains? No option for sofa and two chairs..this is our den do hubby wanted more of a cozy feel and two chairs may of made it more living roomish. The color on wall is wheat bread by behrs, I'm gonna do chocolate froth (which someone on here recommended) in the other room I was stressing about last week, it's on same color palette so thought would flow nicely? Ugh clearly need a designer!!!

For shape... I would say a rectangle hung horizontal...

If you're going to add a mirror, just think about what it reflects. If it reflects a nice view outside or a beautiful chandelier... okay, but if not... then it probably doesn't add more interest to the room. The room seems light enough, so you don't need it to bounce light around I think.

The lamp is way to small for the scale of room and furniture and whomever said to invest in other window coverings was right on.

aly25son, if you like teal, why don't you go solid teal on the drapes? The room could handle a solid block of color like that.

drapes/curtains whats in a name...all the same thing as far as I'm concerned. Th english call them curtains, Americans call them draperies, but at the end of the day they're all curtains IMO.

I'm with Julie on this one! At one time a working definition used to be curtains had "rod pockets" and draperies were "pinch pleated" but that definition has all but gone by the wayside.

Replace the lamp with a floor lamp, and put a big piece of art behind the couch. You need to draw the eye up more. Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like everything was kinda pushed into that corner. Can you open it up a little? Don't put a mirror there, mirrors can go anywhere, that is an art wall.

There are so many options when it comes to fine art. No matter what, pick something you truly love! The frame will help incorporate the piece into your color scheme. These are just a few options from traditional to abstract. Either a horizontal large painting or 2 smaller ones would work.

What about a long sofa table and some decorations on top and a nice art work on the wall. Good luck
