The pattern is consistent throughout the shower, what you keenly observe, is the distortion of the wide angled photography.

Thanks for the quick reply! I thought this was a case of wide angle distortion, but it was messing with me. I couldn't pick it up any where else in the photo. It's really a neat pattern- the little dark pieces makes it looks like water should just drain through everywhere.
