Oh What a Beautiful Morning! Want To Share Yours?

Sometimes in this crazy world, it's good to stop and appreciate, the small things in our lives that can touch us . . . if we take the time to really see and think about them. A sunrise, a flower, a smile, a cup of hot tea in a pretty cup or mug, a bird song.

I needed a little pick me up this morning, and so I called my sister who always inspires me to do this. Here's mine.

We're in our monsoon season now, and our afternoon rains have got the wild Blackfoot Daisies blooming everywhere now. They're short, only 6-8" or so tall but they always brighten my day to see them blooming everywhere on our land now. I took this pic a few minutes ago right off our bedroom patio.

WOW, ladies! I took this out my front door. What started as one pot of Black-eyed Susans a few years ago spread nicely. We haven't had measurable rain for weeks, and Sunday night got one blessed inch. The heat and humidity also left for a day, and this AM, it was 50 degrees when I got up. It felt a bit like Fall, my favorite season.

    Not photographical.

Today is one of the special days where the wind is just right and the scent wafting through my windows is of the sea air rushing through the deep cool pines and into my house. That smell, pine and salt water, is the smell of comfort to me.

No photo, but this morning was a surprisingly lower temperature, low humidity morning and it felt so fresh and clean! It felt a bit like 'fall is coming' here too. Although the temps and humidity will be back up later in the week, it's a morning to enjoy.

    Nice photos and "word pictures"!

This wasn't taken this morning, but a couple of Saturdays ago (when it wasn't pouring down rain, as it has been lately). We've been in our house for a year, but only recently discovered a network of nearby trails that take us off the beaten path and into a beautiful wooded area with a little creek running alongside the walking route. I paused long enough to take this shot, and felt very grateful for the ability to be up and about on such a lovely, warm morning.

I'm appreciating almost every day this summer. While so many areas have suffered record heat, we have had an extremely pleasant summer with temps mostly in the low to mid 70's which is unheard of for August.

No pictures here, because I was not moving from my spot this morning to capture it on film. Thanks to a bit of rain and somewhat cooler temperatures, a lot of my hummingbird plants are blooming. While sitting in my chair and drinking my coffee, I saw about 6-8 hummingbirds flitting around in my maple tree out front. It is nice to see my efforts at creating wildlife habitat are paying off.

I had to run down to Albuquerque this morning for an appointment. As you can see from my first pic (above) it was a beautiful morning. As I drove past Sandia Pueblo land across from their resort, I saw their herd of buffalo and all the new babies in their huge grassy field, highlighted against the Sandia Mountains behind them. It was so pretty! I wanted to stop and take a photo, but didn't have the time, darn it! Still, I did take the time to just enjoy the view. I did an internet hunt just now, so that I could give you all an idea of what I saw. This is the herd. The Sandia Mountains are just out of the picture to the left.

The mornings have been cool here too and it has been a welcome relief even though our weather is usually so terrible that we don't dare complain about a hot sunny summer day.

On the weekend some old friends and my godchildren and I discovered a waterfall and swimming hole near my cottage. One of the most beautiful and refreshing mornings in recent memory. We did have to tell the godchildren the no trespassing signs were for other people (it's public land but the chance of injury is too high for the municipality to encourage visitors).

Sunrise, just after a rain. Earlier this month. I love watching how the colors of the sky and the water change. Often they match, like this morning, and other times the ocaen can be inky blue and the sky is pure white,

Love all the photos from around the country ... and world! Furby I've not been to LG since grade school. Id love to go back!

We are in southwest Louisiana, where horrific flooding has greatly impacted the lives of numerous nearby friends and family, I am so thankful for their sake that the rain has stopped. Unfortunately, some of these areas have just begun to feel the impact. We are only 30' from some of those areas. Although we received large amounts of rain (maybe 8"-12"), it was nothing compared to the 30"+ they got. This was the view from our our front porch one recent morning

Mtn, Magic wings is in South Deerfield, MA. It is right near the flagship Yankee candle store – which is retail at its finest LOL.

I'm not sure that the butterfly Conservatory would be worth the drive on its own– But we were white water rafting with Crabapple, which was about 15 minutes away, so we visited magic wings and the Yankee candle store as well.

That said, I thought the butterfly Conservatory was wonderful. Butterflies everywhere!
