Backsplash ideas for my White Kitchen, Galaxy Quartz counter top, Java stained floor -
Comments (30)This type of basket weave tile is awesome & classic. would be a wonderful transition between black top & white cabinet while adding a super texture. Penny tiles are also a great idea as suggested. As you have a few options, I'd go to your favorite tile store & get a few samples. Line them up vertically in your kitchen. Look at them over several days in morning, evening & afternoon lights. It will soon become apparent which will be easiest to live with & what vibe suits the other elements of your home...See MoreWhat type of counter top is best? I was thinking quartz but am told granite is better. I want durable with lit
Comments (11)Really depends on the look you are going for. Quartz is great if you want a solid/plain/consistant look, but It won't have the depth or natural beauty of stone. Stone generally has variance and can have lots of movement and inconsistencies - so you have to decide what look you like better. There are those who get granite and every anomaly bothers them and they should have gotten quartz. There are those who get quartz and wish their counters had more character. Pick the material for the look, they are both easy to maintain. Both granite and quartz are equally durable. Quartz can warp/discolor over time if you place hot items on it (should use a hot plate)- granite you won't have to worry about it - bit more heat resistant. Quartz you don't seal - many granites you don't need to either (especially dark ones) - but most installers will and then you just reseal every 1-8 yrs. Sealing is easy - spray some sealer on, let it sit for a few min, wipe it off. Not something to be worried about....See MoreWhat 's the best counter top quartz or granite?
Comments (3)Quartz is more uniform, it's also very strong, stain-resistant, anti-bacterial and requires very low-maintenance. When they are engineered quartz slabs (like Caesarstone, Silestone, Cosentino, etc), resins and pigments are added, which makes it available in different colors and at a better price, not to mention that it won't need sealing. Quartz can look very contemporary, but also transitional. Granite is a natural stone, also very strong, but it does require a little more maintenance like sealing. It has more variations in colors and patterns, but that's the beauty of natural stone. Granite countertops are durable and usually have a competitive price, they are definitively a great upgrade, but probably more transitional/traditional. There is then another option, called quartzite. Quartzite is made of a metamorphic rock, usually sandstone that overtime with heat and pressure has transformed into quartzite crystals. Quartzite is a very hard stone (even more than quartz) that can resist scratching, chipping and stains. It has a natural variation that reminds of marble veins but it's not as porous (a proper sealing is recommended). The stone itself is beautiful and versatile, although a lot more expensive. The look of it, to me though, has a wow factor:...See MoreKitchen counter top:Quartz Q Iced White or Zodiac London Sky?
Comments (9)Thanks again got your suggestions. What do you think if I went with a more "brown" colored driftwood tile? Photo of the 2 tiles I'm considering are attached. I don't know if the cabinets (you're correct, they are s cooler grey tone) and brown floor would look too much in contrast. If I used the lighter tile, I would definitely warm up the rest of the condo (area rugs, accent pieces) s you suggested....See Moreascorsonelli
