Removing old wood screws

A hinge on one of my 100+ year old shutters snapped in the wind yesterday and I need to replace the hinge. I was able to remove 1 screw, but the other 2 won't budge. I haven't stripped the screws yet. Before I get to the point of having to buy something to drill out the screws, is there some trick to getting these screws to move? Heating them? Some sort of fluid to apply? I've tried using a normal length screwdriver, and a stubby one. Any ideas?
