I grow the color shown and the yellow form in Southern CA. They dislike temps dropping too low or frost. Once established, they bloom off and on throughout the year. Saw an Anna's hummingbird feeding from the flowers today. I don't see them very often in gardens in my area. Are they common in Houston?

I got this one from a Florida nursery, I think. I have seen them around town. We rarely get freezes here. Only one night did the temps get below 40. I toss a sheet over the patio plants when sub-40's are predicted, and haven't lost anything yet. This plant is still in a pot, but will get a bigger one once we get consistent rain again.

I thought they might be more common in Texas, than in my area, from reading various gardening forums. Thanks.

I don't know how common they are outside my own area of town. they could be very common for all I know. I'm just a very casual gardener ;-)
