Yes, but not that color…the black mulch

Last year we replaced all the black mulch in our front and backyard with the red. I love it. The black was dismal, at least in our little part of the world. The red has added life and interest! Even the garbageman complimented us!

olldbobbi -- do you find it fades much over time?

Kimdee, it's been a year since we spread it and it hasn't faded one bit. However....the red rock we layed is now barely red at all. You can also get mulch made from recycled tires. It's a bit more expensive but I think it's forever, whereas regular mulch will need a bag or two every summer, just to replenish.

Not attractive to whom? I think it's very attractive! And, the only shopping center in this whole cowtown uses the red mulch on all it's beds, it's very cool.

I live in the south and we use long pine needles as mulch. It is resistant to termites, kind of a dark color and all natural. No trees cut down. I like the reuse of tires and have seen it in the big home improvement stores as gutter rain ground guards, much better then the plastic ones.

have to say I think plants look better on natural bark which does eventually break down into ur soil....so dont like what artificially coloured bark might do to ur soil............i use a dark brown and my plants stand out go for colourful plants instead
