Stainless steel appliances of different brands next to each other?

Hi all,

We just bought a house and are gutting the entire thing, including a kitchen remodel and new appliances. We narrowed down our appliances choices and are currently set on a Bosch wall oven/speed oven combo and a Frigidaire Professional fridge. They will be right next to each other, and we're worried about the shades of stainless steel being too different.

Has anyone done that?

I've seen where some appliances have different shades of stainless. Is it possible to pick a smaller Frigidaire appliance (with same stainless color) and take it over to Bosch in showroom to see if they are compatible? We added a different brand microwave and thankfully the stainless matched so it is possible to match.

    Yes, no problem at all.

Great, thanks for the answers. I really didn't want to buy appliances based on looks, rather performance, reliability and practicality.

That's the beauty of stainless steel. It all coordinates. Splash something on it, wipe clean and they all look alike.

Stainless shades can vary a bit. In the US grain/brush is usually horizontal for brightest sheen; in Europe I think vertical brush was popular at one time, much duller looking, but easier to keep clean. So...look closely at the brush direction and be sure to match. It may all be horizontal now.

As for the grade of stainless, highest end will be high nickel 201/301/392/304, the lower end will be low nickel 400 series of some sort, good stuff still.

Thanks laundryvet, I never saw it that way. I'll look closely. About the "grade" of stainless, is that relevant for me? Can the grades be distinguished with an untrained eye? Or do the manufacturers even list them?

Typo on the grades I listed, 302 not 392.

    My personal opinion on SS:

-refrigerator/microwave:doesn't matter, limited chemicals in contact

-range: probably doesn't matter; more chemicals employed in keeping clean

-dishwasher/washer/dryer: presence of bleach and detergent makes better grades a plus for long term ease of retaining appearance; not sure it matters for all brands since the internal mechanicals of select brands will be shot long before the exterior finish is compromised; in commercial versions 201, 301, 302, and 304 dominate; 316 had in roads on commercial dishwashers 20-25 yrs ago

For our kitchen remodel, we selected stainless steel appliances. They all look like they belong in the kitchen together. But every one of them is from a different manufacturer.

    Sharp KB6024MS Microwave Drawer

    Refrigerator Whirlpool GC5SHAXVY

    Dishwasher Bosch SHE5AL05UC

    Warming drawer Frigidaire PLEW30S3DC

    Range GE C2S980SEMSS

Ancona Rapido 30 Range Vent Hood

I suppose if I took a really close look, the GE range SST has a bit of a gold tone in comparison to the others, but this variation is so small to notice. Good luck with your selection.

Mike did you end up going with the Bosch ovens and Fridgidaire Professional Fridge? We are looking at exactly this combo with our new build and wondering how it worked out? Thanks!!
