Transitioning 2 Laminates - Hallway to Bedroom

Help!! Have existing lighter cherry laminate in hallway. Ripping out carpets for both bedrooms on each end of hallway.

I want to use a totally different laminate color for the bedrooms - people say - that's crazy!!

Thoughts? Go big contrast? Go opposite direction as well?Or not both? I was leaning towards a darker color... I had picked a weathered oak but sensing it may clash...

Hallway planks run short way, not long length of hallway (not the best photo - u get the idea tho...)

Is there a difference between the carpet color and the hall color?

Would the new bedroom colors/designs be different?

Point being, the change is fine. Use a transition strip. Folks will not see any difference between carpet/laminate and laminate/laminate.

I wouldn't mix woods (or fake woods) in a house. It would be ok to change direction inside the rooms.

If it were me, I'd use the same laminate you already have. I'm looking at my bamboo hallway (where the boards also run side to side) and trying to envision one of the bedrooms having a different wood. It's just not coming to me.
