Need an exterior color to go with pinky peach (ugh) brick!

We are repairing the front of the house. It will be stucco. What color for the stucco would you choose? It used to be pink but I don't like pink. Ideas?

Oh fer pete sakes - 3 replies of "paint the brick", seriously? It only looks icky peach because the white contrasts w/it in such a way to bring out the peachiness. Color is very much about what other colors are in close proximity and reflecting off of it. You need a color that will make the brick read more like a reddish brown or a rich terra cotta beige. Perhaps a beigey-browny creamy beige midway between roof and brick color would pull it all together - with trim more of a cream than that stark white.

I would spend some $$ on a color consultant, personally. If you post on Home Dec there are some color savvy folks there, but still youll probably get a lot of paint it white or paint it gray. If thats what you think you have to do (you dont, but if you think that) then I would suggest looking into masonry stains vs. paint which becomes, at best, an ongoing maintenance hassle and at worst a peeling mess.

Two ideas. Try posting in the Home Decorating forum. Also, take a closeup photo of the brick holding a white sheet of paper next to it. Take the photo to your local Ben Moore paint store and ask for color help. There are shades of gray that might work well.

Any earth tone will help mute the red tones of the brick. Avoid any green tone, as the complimentary color will accentuate the reddish tone.. Grays are very popular now, but here again, stay away from the green/grays.

I have never been a fan of painting brick, it takes a practically maintenance free material and makes it a continuing maintenance item.

I also am reluctant to paint the brick because it's a maintenance issue.

It looks seriously peachy-pink in the first picture because of the white sheathing. And the purplish pink in the second picture is just strange.

Can you take a picture for us, in sunlight (not shade), of just the brick, closeup of a typical section, with white paper (printer paper) ion about 1/3 of the picture? That will show the minor colors of the brick better and get rid of the unwanted colors.

What Current Resident and David said ... colors do not exist in isolation, they are always in comparison with other colors.
