6 qt Instant Pot pressure cooker on sale Amazon

it's a major sale - $68.96

you can cook a 1.5 lb pork roast in about 15 min (about 5 more if you want to add veggies at the end of cooking meat). that'd be on hi pressure, on low it'd take 28 min plus a few more for the veggies (if you add them at the end).

if I ate meat like that I'd buy one. can make yogurt in it also. it would be good to make up the food and freeze in individual servings for those of us alone (or a 2 some).

that's a super good price for it.

lots of FB and other communities that share in how to use it and recipes to use in it.

I read on one and they cook up some awesome food in record time. one thing good if someone likes bean soup is you don't have to soak the beans overnight. not sure I'd make that often enough to be worth it. I've never made bean soup in my life - but my mom did. I remember eating it as a kid. ham and beans. I figure for me I could manage to soak them and then make in my 1 pot cooker. the pressure cooker is faster than mine - and surely more flavorful because of the pressure.

I use my cooker about once a week now, but can't justify spending another 69.00 to speed up cooking once a week. What I cook doesn't usually take more than 40 min.

the bad (not really) part on mine is (that I know of) it only cooks in 20 min increments. 20 min and it quits cooking and goes to 'warm'. It beeps at me and I check it, if done- ok. if not done yet, I set it for another 20 min.

I figure that's a safety valve for me. if I doze off, it won't burn up. btw, that's on what's listed as 'stir fry' - it'll brown/sauté/ boil water. I haven't used any of the other options yet (like rice, soup, yogurt etc). there are 5-6 options on it.

Anyway, if anyone wants one or thinks it might work for them, check it out on Amazon - and soon before they sell out. they're selling TONS of 'em at that price.

also, I read that Walmart also has them at that price online.

This IP cooker has a stainless steel insert pot and they really like that, especially for clean up and it doesn't hold the smells of previously cooked foods in it. You can also buy a tempered glass lid for it if you'd use it often as just an electric pot (some soups I guess).

Some even boil eggs in it - in about 2-3 min. and bake potatoes at about 12 min. (pressure cooking)

Several have 2-3 of these pots. They even make cheesecake in them... I just buy a slice or 2 at the grocery.

Where I was reading, many are buying several at a time at this price - giving them as Christmas gifts and coming up wedding presents.

Sounds like a good deal if you have a family Steph. I use my little old Hamilton Beach grill for all my meats. Almost everything cooks in 7 minutes. I guess cooking from both sides shortens the cooking time. I like my beef rare so I set the timer for less for steaks. Not that I eat steak that often. Pork is 7 minutes.

When Joe was still here I could also do grilled sandwiches on it for him and veggies along side the meat. I still do that for me just a little bit as I do not eat much in the way of veggies.

I gave my large pressure caner away to a young mother I ran into at a yard sale. I never used it.

Still seriously considering clearing out my cooking stuff from the kitchen cupboards. I am done being a cook. I just think what about company. Well soon company will be coming and I will make note of what I use and let the rest go. Even trying to think of a use for my canisters as I no longer use or buy flour or sugar and I had rubber gloves in another one. LOL I forget what is in the fourth one.

yes, it isn't for me either. do wish I'd had one while raising the kids tho! these new electric ones use computer chips for the processing and have mega safe guards to keep them safe. the lids lock on and won't come off until the pressure is released.

i don't eat meat often. more veggies and pasta. of course, you can cook all of those in it also. I can do most of the same stuff in my 1 pot - just not quite as fast and I'm sure it's not as flavorful. I do like my 1 pot cooker for the ease of tossing everything in it at once, the safety (turns itself off) and the ease of cleaning it. stuff doesn't stick to the pot and what is left in it, wipes right out! it will even make yogurt, not that I think I'll do that. I'm sure it's probably healthier than the store bought tho.

I do want to make rice in it. might try that later this week. It's supposed to be perfect every time. I'll find out. If it can be messed up, I'll be the one to do it! I've got a bunch of mashed potatoes to eat up for now. it sure is easier to make those and it cleans up after boiling them super easy! even that starch doesn't stick to the pot like it did my corning ware pot. I've made those maybe twice in the past 2 months - after not having made them in a year (and probably 5 yrs before that). I'd just been making the instant ones when I got hungry for them. Made from a real potato is a lot better!

no boil overs either with it! that's less cleaning of those under the coil things.

I'm going to go heat up some leftovers... then to the bank for more money (gc) so I can shop online later. they've got a great sounding tablet for about 90.00 that I want to buy for my friend in IL. Then she can email me... and her kids.

The Amazon HD 8 Fire tablets are on sale too, for about 60.00 if anyone is looking for one. The one I want to get for my friend has a keyboard.

I bought a great little 10 inch windows 10 tablet with attached keyboard. But I do not like the keyboard that came with it so I took it off and use my little blue tooth keyboard. Works wonderful and leaves the tablet touch screen. I got it several months ago maybe a year. It was 89.00. I do not use it as much s I thought I would now Joe is gone. I used to take it to the chemo lounge and we would look at it while he was getting his infusions. I am so used to my laptop I use it all the time. Love it.
