I've been wanting to grow PJP II for some time and have been apprehensive, having come across conflicting reports on its performance in colder climates like yours and mine.

Can you please give a report on its cultural requirements.

Will it do better grafted or own root in your/my zone? Does it need winter protection? If no, is it tip hardy for you? What are its mature dimensions? Do the blooms hold up in rain? Do they wilt or crisp in the sun or heat? Do the petals drop quickly? Is it disease resistant? Do you spay it?

I greatly appreciate any info you can share.

Thank you so much everyone! Moses, I think that Pope John Paul II must be a good rose, and I do see signs of improvement in mine. It has struggled for four seasons, but it is planted near Firefighter, Francis Meilland and Julia Child which have struggled too, and they are also improving. Mine is grafted on Dr. Huey, so I don't have an opinion on how it would do own root. We've had relatively mild winters recently, but most hybrid teas are hardy in my zone. Mine hasn't gotten very big so far, and the canes have remained green, so I've pruned it very little.

i do.believe PJPII is very vigorous for some. Maybe someone who has had better success than me will give their input.

At this time I am very hopeful that mine will improve. It is one beautiful rose and very fragrant !

Sara-Ann, yes, definitely worth the wait. PJII is one of my favorites. You can never have too many. I am glad the last buds became blooms!

Those are beautiful. The fragrance is superior as well. One of the best white roses ever.
