I would suggest a wider wood saddle that matches the stain of your floor, around 4 inches or so, with the side facing the wood floor sloped to provide an easier transition.

Is it not actually wood itself? You can't go without a transition because the difference in height -- would you prefer a more gradual slope?

The molding itself is a decent match (in color and wood presentation) but the width is a a bit skimpy and the uneven floor height could have been disguised a little better with a wider uneven transition strip (sometimes called a reducer).

The thing that is 'off' about this little setting is the poorly cut molding on the wall (which has to be there). That tiny little stick of trim is pointing a finger (the middle one) at the transition strip...making it look much worse than it is.

Technically, this is a decent match and would be considered appropriate. Could it have been done a little better? Yes. Can you change it to look better? Yes - with a price tag attached to it.

If the products are the same thickness you shouldn't need a transition strip.
