We are getting pretty close to finishing our remodel except for one main outstanding issue. When the HVAC company came to cut the hole for the roof vent, it was three inches too far to the right, so we thought. When came time to move it and do a simple ceiling patch, it needed to move not only 3" to the left, but 3" towards the wall so the 7" deep extension (for a 10' ceiling) would meet the wall. Except for one big problem, there is a roof truss in the way and we can't move the pipe back. The hood is already mounted to the wall as of now. So I think the options are

1. Punch through the garage with 45s around the truss.

2. Try and fabricate some kind of new stainless extension, although I envision something like an upside down cone to get it to fit the range hood.

3. Move the range hood out 3" from the wall and build out behind it, like a vertical soffit.

Any other options or opinions?
