I need ideas to make this open plan wall space more dramatic!

I live on a compound.The villa is open plan with a wrought iron stair case coming down centrally into the living area. There is a huge amount of wall space from floor to ceiling level.It is currently a "magnolia" colour which I cannot change.Air con units are also placed on the wall which cannot be moved.I was thinking of putting up a mass of pictures clumped together or a wall hanging.Has anyone got any more imaginative ideas?! Thank you very much.

Hi Becky,

I Live for spaces like this. Wall sculpture with a Light behind it will bring Drama and life to your wall. I see that there are a couple of lights on the wall already. Perhaps you can find a really unique wall sculpture and mount them right over the lights.

I have sold some Lightning Sculptures that would look great there, but a Sun wall sculpture or something suited to your taste would work fine.

You can even change the color of the bulb to enhance the wall sculpture. Here are some examples of my work.

i too have a lot of wall space like this, I filled it with large nautical decor. Like, a captains wheel, a flat wood anchor... pick a theme and go with pieces that can compliment that. if you live anywhere near a homegoods store you can find some pretty huge canvas art pieces cheap that would look nice. i think one big picture would do well, but not a collage.

Becky, any interesting piece of wall art that adds visual interest to your space and that you enjoy can work there. Just make sure not to overload the wall. Any piece of art would need some empty space around it to become a focal point. Enjoy beautifying your space!... Raisa

Hi again Becky,

While I agree that Paintings can add a certain level of Drama to a wall space, I see that the placement of those two small lights may interfere with the placement of a Painting, not to mention the immovable Air conditioner.

This is what makes this space perfect for wall sculpture, especially something that can be illuminated from behind. If you found two pieces similar but not exactly similar, and position them over the lights, slightly offset so that the light escapes from behind the artwork, the drama level will draw the eye away from the air conditioner.

Ideally, if you can find a piece or pieces that will allow some light to escape through the front, that would be even more dramatic. I would take your time and search out just the right piece as this is your perfect opportunity to create spectacular.
