Cool grays are hard to mix with warm wood tones - neither brings out the best in the other as you have found. Creams and whites work. If you want a color, some of the greens - even gray based ones might work. I like BM Dry Sage in the kitchen below - but it is helped by the large amount of cream tile. You could try a color like Dry Sage, but I think you would want to incorporate a lot of whites or creams in the room too.

Free yourself. Paint the cabinetry. Natural maple goes both yellow and pink. Time to get out from under that which probably looks a bit dated as well.? How 'bout some nice, clean white cabinetry and whatever you WANT on the walls? You might post a photo..........

I used Benjamin moore 'baby turtle' in my kitchen with classic maple cabinets...similar color to dry sage -- did it ten years ago and still love it

Here are some pictures of the area I am looking to paint. I already took down the decorations and window treatments and am ready to go! I would love to paint the cabinets but will wait a few years for that. Great suggestion though!

The cabinets are a total fight with the kitchen flooring. All the tones in adjacent room are cool, with the exception of the maple built in. All I can say at this point is take your family room paint can to the paint store, and have them custom mix you a color.......at one quarter strength of that paint formula. Or you are headed for a hodge podge.
