Thanks for additional info. One owner since 1938?! There may be some "deferred maintenance". If you just bought the house, you may be able to buy a home warranty. Some warranties are worth the money. It's Often an older house with one or two residents may have some problems with plumbing backups once a new family has moved in. It's nice that you have sturdy, well made stick built cabinets. Take a look at new door pulls; take an old drawer with you to the store to save time. BTW, you can buy new drawer boxes if waxing and tidying up the runners and drawer stops doesn't cure all the wear and tear. THey are not expensive. You might also want to try grout paint. It can be bought at home centers. White or off white paint on the gray tile's grout may freshen it up quite a bit. If you pick up some gray paint chips, match the tile color, and then you can get a small can of oil based paint tinted to match exactly. Use it with a tiny brush to patch up any chips in gray tiles. Works very well. Latex paint doesn't work nearly as well as a chip fixer upper. The pink tiles may be matched by a $3 pink nail polish if you are lucky.

I looked at the websites listed above and my favorite was the Currey & Company Darden chandelier. But its only 34 inches wide. I found a single tier chandelier that is 42 inches wide. Picture is below.

continued.... I longed for trees. It was an odd story in finding this house. the market was horrible at the time. When the house would not sell, the owner abandoned it. It sat for years. The bank tried to sell it but no one wanted it as it needs lots of work. Thankfully my husband is a handyman and the price dropped into our range as we were looking that day. It had to drop a lot for us to even have it fit in our budget. The bank was so happy to be rid of it they put in the new septic, a new furnace and tore out the water damage for us. None of this we could have ever imagined happening, so I say to keep your eyes open if it is your dream, there are little gems out there waiting for someone who will love them! I hope you find a wonderful gem perfect for you! definitely post when it happens! Australia has always fascinated me. My friend from Bali tells me of her times living there:) This is a large home but our adult sons hang out with us as one is in college, the other is figuring things out. We have had a few folks in need stay with us with plenty of breathing room. Family and friends from out of state often stay with us as well. There is a constant influx of folks here! Even though it has constant construction people say it is a cozy place to be. It is a funny odd quirky home for sure. The living room has seven doorways!, not one has the same molding treatment, and they are three different heights. Fancy and elegant it is not, but cozy and filled with love it is:) My husband says it is perfect for Pet Cemetary, a Stephen King horror movie. lol! I will post a couple interesting photos of the first deed on this land and a photo taken long ago here. The previous owner left it in the home when he left it, which was very kind of him. I have since talked with him. He was going through very rough times when he left. He loved this place as well and is happy we do too. you can see from the old photo there is a change on the th side of the home. there was a fire at one point which lead to redesign on that far side. the burnt timbers of walnut which were roughly cut and made from this land were visible at one point in the basement ceiling. The bark was still on it in places.

I would do more traditional siding all around like your front gable. Color would be dependent on the company providing the vinyl. Keep the roof color in mind too. The vertical board and batten style does not say southern colonial, and neither do the garage doors. If anything, I would beef up the front door pediment and trim, adding larger lantern lights. Remove all the shutters which look so awkward on double windows. You could add flower boxes on the downstairs windows, but only if you have a green thumb and the patience to keep them looking good. A straight walk to the curb with flower beds might be pretty.
