Remodel of very small shower room

Dear Creative Friends

Let me introduce myself, I am Norbert from Hungary. I am living in a small country, in a small town, in a small house. And when say small, than it is really small :)
And that is the reason why I need your creativity, ideas and suggestion.
I have a bathroom. It is 1,44 yd by 2,04 yd and there is a 0,77 yd door in the middle of the longest wall. The door is opening to outside direction. Ok, it is more of a cabin :)
I would like to remodel it in modern style. Place there a shower, a bathroom sink and mirror. And if it possible, than place there a small cupboard for the goods.

Please, send me ideas, how can I do it. But, please, do not write product names, because almost certainly than not reachable in Hungary.
If you have picture, drawing or sketch than those are very welcome.

Thank you in advance or Köszönöm szépen!

Wow! Ed, what a quick response! Thank you!
Really nice pictures, unfortunately these are more bigger than my bathroom. The size what I wrote is the all place where I have to place everything. :)

    Hi,
The door opening out is good. If you only wish to fir a basin and shower I think you have plenty of space if you think about using the corners away from the door. You could have a pentagonal or curved corner shower (the door will need to either slide or open inwards). You can then have a basin in the other corner with storage cupboard to the side.

If you draw a floor plan and attach it, you might get more responses and help. There are a few designers on here based in Europe that are accustomed to working with small rooms.

I agree with Ditecture. And Ed is showing that idea in pix 2-4. You just need to imagine everything closer together :)

I have done a very small shower space (I will post some pictures). Or you could create a wet room where the whole of the room is made waterproof and then add a shower feature and sink and unit

Hi. I am in the Uk so we are used to thinking small.

My sketch above is pretty much to scale. As the door is in the middle of the wall it leaves not much space either side, which is why I think you need to think of the shower space as being across the corner. Wetrooms are great but here you might need to think carefully about the direction and angle of the shower head to ensure you don't wet the door area (and hence outside the room).

Get the layout sorted and then cruise Houzz for design inspiration. As you can see above, there are some great ideas here, you just need to be clear about how to relate them to your smaller space.
Also, do you have a window?

This is amazing! Thank you for good ideas and inspiration.
Philipparichard your drawing gives me new way of thinking.

I would not use standard shower cabin because I lost some space due to the standardized sizing of it and the tray would be annoying.
What do you think about a half-and-half solution? There is no shower tray, but the complete floor built to waterproof and the walls also and places a sinker to the corner (right bottom corner on your drawing) .
Use a shower curtain as a separator.
The rest of the room is normal bathroom construction.

There is a small window in opposite of door, but it is 0,32 yd by 0,32 yd on 2,18 yd high.

    Exactly - a wet room!

I think waterproofing the floor rather than having a tray is good. A curtain might not hold all the spray, so I think you need to make sure the door area is really waterproof and the window area. Although with a wetroom the entire room CAN get wet, you don't really want it too. You still need to think of controlling the water and spray and ensure that all materials are waterproof.

My new shower room style and structure is beginning to emerge in my brain :)

Could you help me with the size of tile on the wall and the floor? Which is better in small room the small or the big size from optical point of you.

I would like to use cocoa brown color on the floor and light brown on the wall with some dark brown inserts.

Normally bigger tiles will give more space as there are less seams. But you can go smaller provided the grouting is as close to the tile as possible (or you tile as close as possible).

Your colour scheme will define the floor space because it is dark and then have a lighter colour on the walls. You could go with one colour but different sized tiles for variety.

Norbert treat the entire bathroom as the shower. It's done all the time in Europe. Treat the entire bathroom floor as the shower floor. Place the shower head so it's directed away from the bathroom door and if possible the sink and mirror. I would tile the walls to the ceiling and again, treat all walls as shower walls. These bathrooms are bigger but will give you an idea of what I'm talking about. In the US, we use this design a lot with accessible bathrooms for handicap people or people who want to age gracefully at home.
