You would be wise to group your plants according to their water requirement before you set up your irrigation.

If water guzzlers are combined with non-guzzlers, something will suffer, fail, die, look awful, and leave an ugly hole in your planting.

That is an interesting point. In fact I do keep moving my pots around since my garden is very small. Sunlight in winter is a premium thing. And in Summers I move the pots under shade of trees. I knew setting this up will not be simple !!!

There should not be a problem with your set up. If all your pots are not way above or below the main lateral, you will be okay. If you use controlled flow dripper heads for each different container you will be okay as well. Do not use a drip tube or soaker hose to irrigate many pots at once. You can move them all around you want. You will be making new hole in the lateral and plugging the old holes (possible leaks). Very good idea using a pressure regulator/filter (10-20 psi) for these type of systems. JMHO Aloha

Is it possible that I keep the irrigation pipe on ground and take the 4mm flexible line (with drippers at end) from it to the pots which are at height from irrigation pipe? That will allow me to put the pipe on the ground and will be less work. If so what is the limit on the height?

I did buy a pressure reducer and filter combo.

If your pressure is from your house line (around 50 psi) with a reducer to 20 psi. you have plent of pressure to move water from the ground into a pot. The limiting factor is the number of 4mm lines (pots) coming from the ground lateral. need to measure the flow rate (gal/min) from that line and when you add up the flow rate from all the 4mm lines they can't exceed 80% of the mainline flow rate. Fill a 5-gal bucket up with your ground line and time it. Then calculate gal/min and compare to the sum of all the flow rates from 4mm lines(drippers). If your 4mm total flow rate is more tan 80% of the ground line source you will lose pressure and have uneven watering. JMHO GL
