Sounds dangerous. I hope all you California rose friends are safe!

Please take care and let us know.

That was a HUGE storm! We got an inch of rain here, and that was the same storm that gave So Calif 6-9 inches, and they are 400 miles away. Ingrid, did you get rain? How much?

We got just under 6.75" in less than 48 hours. Our hillside did fine but I now know where I used to have gophers. The moles seem to have survived, i see some fairly dry fresh holes

I lost a mature Salvia confertiflora and younger Abutilon 'Victorian Lady' last night due to the combination of wind and rain, but I won't complain about the rain. This has been the longest stretch in some time in which I haven't had to water the yard at all. So much new growth on the roses!

"Only" 1.65 inches here, but grateful for every drop of rain. That's good for two more weeks of no irrigation. Our water bill will be the smallest ever.

About the same as hoovb, but communities nearby had flooded streets and giant eucalyptuses toppling on a house and various cars. More rain expected by Friday if not sooner. We never seen to get the brunt of a storm down here, it's always further north, but I'm also grateful for every drop and the hillsides are green. The trees especially look so much better.

We lucked out north of Santa Barbara, only four inches with another .7" forecast by Tuesday. Santa Maria was wisely designed with many spreading grounds to catch the storm run off. Yesterday, all the sports fields and parks around us were full, allowing the water to soak back into the aquifer which supplies a large part of our drinking water. Today was supposed to be partly sunny, except it continues to be very blustery with scattered showers. My rain gauge shows nearly half an inch today. There is actually, finally water flowing in the river.

Here in the San Fernando Valley we had 4 inches of rain in 24 hours. A bloom on Oklahoma that had been struggling to open for weeks finally gave up the ghost. One of my pot pets is just about drowning -- don't know why it's not draining out the bottom. Otherwise, everything seems to have come through ok. Today we had showers on and off, but the sun came out at the end of the day, treating us to a beautiful sunset. I can just imagine how it will look at the California poppy reserve in a month ...

    Thanks for asking!

We ended up at about 7" pretty good. The weeds slip out nicely.

There are buds on the roses in the lower garden some blooms too. A few of the roses that struggled are doing nice. The Austins in the backyard got pruned so it will be a while for them. ALMcD has two fat basal canes busy shooting up and guessing all the rain will push them even more. Baby Mt Tam has a new cane too
