There are a few options here:

1. If your deck has a roof/covering that juts out above the French doors, you could look into adding an outdoor ceiling light mounted to that covering.

2. You could also consider an outdoor hanging light--just make sure to hang it high up enough that the doors won't hit it.

3. If you don't want a ceiling mounted light, you can try wall-mounted lights, again located far enough away from the doors so they won't get hit when the doors are open as wide as possible.

What did you decide on?

Is there something new on the market these days. We were told NOT to have french doors that opened out as the hinges are on the outside and can be removed and people can break in. Since we didn't have room inside either, we opted for a slider, but I'd love to know if there is something new now.
