A spa green, white, light grey tile would look good with the brick. If you can get a glass shower door, that should pervent leaking. To update what looks like a new kitchen, I would just take off the ornate glass doors. Open shelves will look better. I would paint the bricks. The small amount that doesn;t even go around to the other wall or above the cabinets isn't saying much. I'd paint them your favorite color and paint the backsplash on the other wall (or tile it in the same color as you painted the brick.) Replace the tiffany light with somethink cool and to your taste. Steve Wong makes interesting light sold online: I'd like twice about painting the cabinets, but you might want to change the hardware. Also, if you have some artist friends, you could do 4 square canvasses over the upper cabinets.

I think it can be done...As long as the supporting ones r left until the new load bearing ones u back up..It looks like the placement of the new posts on each side of window would not be any further apart than the current ones, just placed in a diff. spot. However, not being an engineer or architect, I would get some advise...my husband looked and thinks it can be done without a big fuss, said put new ones up b4 taking old ones down...We can only see so much for a pic, so I think best bet is to ask a carpenter...do u have any friends whose brains u can pick?
