It's raining again...but sunny days were productive!

Just posting some eye candy in case anyone is craving it:-) We had about a week of sunshine to dry out a little. Here's a couple of combo pots I planted up. Let's hope they don't get crazy wet and ugly. Most of thees plants overwintered in the dry house/shelter, either in small pots or bare-root clumps.

I may or may not have just screamed.. This is so pretty! Great job, they look so well cared for and the colors are beautiful. Are you able to tell me a few of their names? I might look into buying a few once I've gotten used to succulent care, because these are absolutely amazing

I thought I heard someone scream!!!!

Wow, that first one is breathtaking. So much color. You are very talented to be able to assemble that collection. How long ago did you do it? Are you expecting it to grow and change a lot over the summer?

Those are really nice! Can you tell us what the substrate is, how deep, etc? I want to do something similar and need advice. Thanks

Lisa, second photo, the chubby one cascading out in the lower left corner--could you identify it? That might be the one I'm asking about on another thread.

Thanks so much everyone, it's so nice to have someone to show off to:-) usually I'm just laboring in obscurity. Varieties in photo #1: Clockwise, the biggest palest echeveria is Lilacina, then 4 small E. Cassyz Winter Sunset, a single e. Dusty Rose, trailing is sedum palmatum, then bright green Jovibarba allionii, the e. Frosty (crest) then pink e. Violet Queen (3).

Barb, They are planted in 4-5 inches of mix, about 1/3 perlite and1/3 pumice and 1/3 cactus soil. For my climate I use more soil in the mix for a shallow/er container, so for a`tIny bonsai planter I'd sue 2/3 soil, w/pumice or perlite. This because we get NO summer rain for over 6-7 months. More soil in mix means I water less, especially in a tiny pot.

I just assembled these this week, but used plants I have owned for awhile. Each would have been grown in a small post or grown in another grouping.

oops, wasn't finished...these will grow and get crowded/fill out over the summer, I'll remove some as they get over crowded, or if they get pests etc.

Barb, with succies that are not overly sensitive, so common ones, plentiful propagators etc. I can just move them around like a florist would use cut flowers...replanting in an arrangement at will. I'd only do this a few times a year, otherwise it could weaken the plants. I'd use a trowel to pull them out in a good rootball and put the bigger ones in first, then tuck in smaller ones to fill. (For more rare or special plants I'd never put them in a grouping).

In photo#2 the large dark purple echeveria at top is violacina. The pink E. at 3 oclock is Afterglow. The big pink trailing jellybeans is pachyphytum oviferum. It's great for containers as an edge trailer. Here's another shot if in in a single pot, This pot is about 14 inches tall, wth a rbick under, soon to need another brick:-) since I am afrais I will break the long stems if I try to repot.

    repot.
