This is what I always recommend. Google where you live and put Orchid Society. Example: San Diego Orchid Society, Sacramento Orchid Society.

See when they meet (usually once a month). Attend the meeting. Its free. You will meet people growing orchids in your area. They usually have vendors at their meetings where you can buy orchids so much cheaper than online. Many people bring divisions of their plants in and either give them away free or raffle them off.

You will learn info on those orchids and how they grow in your area. It is so much cheaper to buy through Orchid Societies. Most have a yearly show which has lots of Vendors from all over the Country. They discount and you save on shipping.

Even if no one grows the plants you are looking for you will get the names of nurseries in your area where you can purchase them and save on shipping and handling.

Plus, it is fun and you will meet people and see what they are growing. Eveyone loves to talk orchids and give advise. Its a wonderful time and such a wealth of knowledge.
